The Set of Instructions Every Cat and Kitten is Given at Birth

Susan Kaul
There is just something about a cat isn't there? They are soft and cuddly and beautiful and completely capable of independence. They love us, oh yes they do, but do they need us? Some of the things that they do to show us just how much they think of us are well know to all cat lovers. Here is a list of examples of the special treatment our cats dedicate to us.

Toilets: Always accompany guests to the toilet. It is not necessary to do anything. Just sit and stare.

Doors: Don't allow any closed doors in any room. To get door open, stand on hind legs and hammer with paws. Once door is open it is unnecessary to actually use it. After you have ordered an outside door open, sit halfway in and halfway out and think about several important and profound things.

Chairs and Rugs: If you have to throw up, get to a chair quickly. If you cannot manage in time, get to an Oriental rug. If there is no Oriental rug available then deep pile is good. When throwing up on the
carpet, make sure to walk backwards so that is as long as s human's bare foot.

Hampering: If one of your humans is engaged in some activity and the other is idle, stay with the busy one. This is called 'supervising'.

When supervising cooking, sit just behind the left heel of the cook. You cannot be seen and therefore stand a better chance of being stepped on and then being picked up and comforted.

For book readers, get in close under the chin, between the eyes and the book, unless you can lie across the book itself.

For paperwork, lie on the work and obscure as much of it as possible. When a human is holding a newspaper in front of themselves, be sure to jump on the back of the paper. Humans love to jump.

When a human is working on a computer, jump up on the keyboard and try to catch the cursor.. (That flashing thing on the screen)

Walking: As often as possible, dart quickly and as close as possible in front of the human, especially on stairs, and in the dark and when they get up in the morning. This will help switch on their
co-ordination skills for the rest of the day.

Bedtime: Help humans to sleep at night by sleeping on them. This is so they can't move around and disturb themselves.

Litter Box: When using the litter box, be sure to kick as much litter out of the box as possible. Humans love the feel of kitty litter between their toes.

Last Thought: Whenever possible, get close to a human face, then turn around and present your rear. Humans and their guests love this.

BTW: The picture is my Foxy, She has gone from an abandoned barn kitty to the rightful princess that she is. She is gorgeous, soft, cuddly, loving, and playful. Everything you could ask of a princess. We love her so much and she has mastered each of these rules exquisitely. If you would like to see more of Foxy, just check her slide show.

I have a cat that likes to sit on a book, if I'm trying to read it.

Another hilarious write. Great fun to read.

You added some things cats do that I have not read before and told the ones I have read in an original and amuzing way. 5 Stars if they still let us rate rather than say "Helpful".

Foxy is a beautiful cat! These observations are so true. My cat seems to be in front of me no matter what I'm doing. I try to make the bed, and he's on it. I'm trying to put up drapes, and there he is right in front of me. The Oriental rug part is right too. Mine has been barfed on more than I care to mention. It's wool, and I've finally given up. Now it's rolled up and laying in my garage. Loved this article!

So funny 'cause it's true! Our cat did every one one of those things with frequency and skill.

Isn't that so true. Dogs are the same, my sheepdog used to chase me when I ran away and if he couldn't succeed in tripping me up or heading me off, he nipped me in the thigh.

Funny - especially the parts about 'supervising' when you use the bathroom.

I almost want to get a cat now.

My brother has a cat, 'Misty'. I adore the stories he shares with me regarding Misty and her antics. She is amazing. Loves him and his spouse without regard and is their life.
