From the pen of Dr. Peter J. Shield PhD
I saw a man the other day, sat lonely by the road
His cloths were torn his shoes were worn
The highway was his home. He wore no smile upon his face
So weather worn with time I couldn't help but wonder
What he'd been like in his prime.
Was he a school a bright young man adept at sums and knowledge?
And what of love, had it passed him by in his early years at collage.
I pondered as I drove along the now deserted road
What steers a man through the sea of life, what determines his route
And the weight of his load.
What leads men on to impossible dreams,
Whilst others fall by the way
Is there some magical, mystical force
That guides us day by day
I parked my car beside the lake and watched the boats go sailing past
With sheets of colorful canvas Billowing from their masts
Was it not I asked the same wind that filled each and every sail?
Whilst some chose left and others right
Despite the strength of the gale, Just as some of us choose greater goals
Whilst others choose to fail.
For each of us must choose our path
Through our lives the same wind blows
You see it's not the gale - but the set of your sail
That determines the way you go!
