The Shawnee Inn in in Logan, Ohio: Hocking Hills Lodging Review

Chen Salis
The Shawnee Inn Motel located in the beautiful Hocking Hills region. On Lake Logan Road in Logan, Ohio.

The motel itself is nice. It is very clean and well cared for. The staff is very nice and helpful. It is relatively inexpensive about $50 a night on the weekend.
For the price this motel is a very good value. They have water beds available . I would recommend it over the Inn Towner Motel definitely. However the Shawnee Inn does not have a pool or hot tub . I would give it a 2 thumbs up rating for someone on a budget seeking a clean room! It is also a good alternative to the larger hotels . The Shawnee Inn does not offer breakfast as most places do. They do have ice, soda and other small items for sale in the office.

Normally the motel is not very busy and it is very quiet . There are nearby restaurants such as the Millstone, featuring barbeque and drinks. Also there is La Cascada, the food is delicious ! Also it is nice for a local who just needs a mini vacation or a break! I have stayed there for the purpose of watching TV without my phone ringing in all honesty before . The friendly staff won me over immediately and I am a clean freak so the room really impressed me. I felt comfortable there, not disgusted!

Lake Logan is located nearby . You can fish, swim and rent a variety of boats there. Lake Logan is also nice for a romantic walk at sunset or feeding the swans you will occasionally see. It is a very peaceful and serene setting! The Downs bait shop is close to The Shawnee Inn for all your fishing needs. Also nearby is Remple's Grove complete with an Amish style restaurant , small feeding zoo which offers free admission, mini golf , canoeing, antiques, and an ice cream shop. Walmart is conveniently located within a 1/2 a mile as well as a variety of other stores and restaurants.

Also nearby are a variety of shops such as the Artisan Mall, located on Hunter Street in Logan, The Hocking River Emporium and Logan Art Gallery which are located on Main Street. Logan Art Gallery features some beautiful paintings by local artists and exquisite pottery by " Chris" . You can take pottery classes there for about $15 per hour .

Julies cafe located on Main Street is absolutely wonderful. Featuring chef David Shafer , the food is wonderful. I recommend the Mexican Soup.
Also across the street is The Spotted Owl Cafe. They serve wonderful Humus and Hot dogs!

The Shawnee Inn is also just a short drive from Old Mans caves a local hot spot for hiking . If you are from the city you will enjoy the nice drive out there. The road is a little curvy for those of you who get car sick. Also The Visitors center is located on 664 across from Lake Logan Road. You can stop in there to get more information on the area and our local attractions . The Visitor Center has a large variety of brochures and the staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. Outside they have a display set up to give information on our local flowers and animals like box turtles. Also if you stay on Saturday night across from Walmart at the American Legion that put on a fantastic breakfast for less than $5 a person.

I would not hesitate to stay at The Shawnee Inn . It obviously does not offer the luxuries you would expect at the larger hotels but knowing that prior to your stay you should not be disappointed.
