The Ship of Twenty Seven Acts

Save Lives with Acts

Nichole Grzych
To the brinks of the river the ship kept on sailing.
An old ship it was.
There was a mast and some wailing.
Were these people on the ship saved by the Lord?
Or did they just want to be saved?
Some must have only wanted to be saved by life temporarily.
Did others just pray for freedom daily?
Regardless of all there was a destination.
Land or water?
Heaven or hell?
The wind really had its way with the ship.
God was looking down.
It really was a story in Acts 27 found.
It was akin to a life journey.
The story unfolds as a representation of the mystery of a life journey.
Are we sure of our destination?
Whether or not it is all a matter of heaven or hell.
Sailing is dangerous at times and so is life.
We get stuck and wonder what has happened to our life.
Some make a wish when they are in terrible strife.
When you lose hope you're in a bad situation.
When not safe some finally start listening.
When hungry, worn, and weary are truly faced with life one does not know what it is but them.
This ship in Acts 27 was not on a smooth or wondrous sail.
May Jesus pilot your ship as Jesus can.
Save you from the life of Paul.
We all take turns in life.
But it was Paul in this ship.
The ship was in a hurricane called "northeastern".
Then the hurricane hit Paul and the other prisoners on the ship.
Fear trembled.
The lifeboat was barely secure.
It was their life on the line.
For what was their life?
Paul was on his way before Caesar.
He was amidst his life on a scary ship.
Now the cargo was thrown overboard.
At the third day they were throwing the ships tackle overboard.
There was no sun.
There were no stars.
For many days the storm kept raging.,
The prisoners all gave up.
Hope was bleak for being saved.
In loss of hope it is a true bad situation.
Food was lost and gone for a very long time.
Paul began to explain.
He said only the ship would be lost.
He wanted their lives saved.
Only the ship was to be destroyed.
That was Paul's plea.
It was an angel that stood beside him.
It was the night before that this came to him.
'Do not be afraid, Paul,' the angel did say.
The angel knew he was to sand trial before Caesar.
No one realized or appreciated the life they have already done.
Not in a moment has this been given.
Paul did.
Hope.
Paul told the other prisoners to keep their courage.
It looked as if they were going to run aground to some island.
Still at the Adriatic sea.
Calmer and a little still.
Now fourteenth night after day.
The sea was 120 feet deep.
More fear and turbulence came.
There was fear the water was too low now.
There was fear the ship would be dashed against a rock.
The anchor and stern was dropped.
Prayer was sent out for daylight.
Paul broke some bread and gave it.
It was to others who then were encouraged.
Encouragement was a beacon after much starvation.
Two hundred and seventy six were board the ship.
That was the count of them all.
A bay was showing its face.
Once at bay a decision was made.
The soldiers were that maker of decisions.
God was watching with his eye.
Out of fear that the prisoners would escape the soldiers who wanted to kill.
It was Paul that the centurion wanted to spare.
The plan to kill was not fulfilled.
This ship had a story of lives getting saved.
But were any of these men really saved?
It is all about destination.
Here or there no matter where.
Is it heaven or hell?
