The Shopping Event of the Year: Black Friday

The Day After Thanksgiving

Sam
Hailed by die-hard shoppers as the day of all days to comb the stores for rock bottom, best of the year bargain prices, Black Friday refers to the once a year shopping extravaganza held every year the day after Thanksgiving. Scores of shoppers line up outside the doors of their favorite stores to join the stampede when the store manager says it is go time. The excitement begins early and stretches long into the day as everyone jockeys for the best deals.

Shoppers wishing to take a stab at this monumental shopping day need to approach their shopping plan strategically. Realize that the stores will be absolutely crammed with frenzied parents hoping to get this year´s hottest toy and other obssesive shoppers who quite literally spend the entire year looking forward to Black Friday and all of its glorious shopping opportunities.

Study the Ads
The most important thing is to study the sales circulars prior to your trip. This is the go to source for store opening times, many which are much earlier than usual for this special day of shopping. The circulars also contain all the details for the fabulous bargains that will be available.

Plan Your Schedule
The best approach to Black Friday is to plan a shopping schedule. Decide ahead of time which stores you will hit, and develop a schedule that spells out when you need to be at which store. This is an important step, since certain sale prices will only be available during early bird hours and some sale prices won´t start until later in the day, etc. Keep these factors in mind and draw up a time frame to guide your trip.

Enlist Help
You can´t be everywhere at once, so it might help to invite some helpers to join you. You will benefit from the extra set of hands and the extra deal searching power they can provide. Some stores will present coupons to be used the day of the sale and the coupons will specifically state "One per customer." Get around this by handing extra coupons to your helpers and have them fall in line behind you as you wait to check out.

Finally, as you set out to conquer the marketplace, dress in comfortable shoes, and go for the layered approach when choosing your attire. And don´t forget to pack snacks, water and maybe an some aspirin, just in case!
