The Sidekick 3: It Just Looks Good

BS
The sidekick 3 is phone that attracts many people to it because of its look. The phone does look really good with its swivel screen and built in QWERTY keyboard, but does the rest of the phone match up to the looks?

The answer, unfortunately, is no.

The Camera: With a phone as technologically advanced as the sidekick, one would assume that the camera on it would be pretty decent. In reality, the quality of the pictures taken from the phone is actually quite poor. They are not clear and the colors are not vibrant. I have had phones that cost a lot less than the sidekick 3 take much much better pictures.

The Size: The phone is actually quite bulky. It cannot comfortably fit in a pants pocket as most phones do. It is also very difficult to use is you are trying to be discreet. Although you purchase the phone knowing how big it is, it is not until later that you actually realize what a pain it can be. On the plus side, the phone does have a rather large screen.

The Battery Life: The battery life on this phone is the worse I have ever seen. The battery is almost halfway gone by the end of the day, even if you don't use the phone all that much. If you were actually going to use the phone a lot, like to talk on it or to text message someone, you probably be down to the last bar by the end of the day.

Bluetooth: The phone comes with bluetooth technology. The sidekick 3 enables you to connect your phone to a wireless headset and use that as your means of communication instead of actually having to hold the phone to your ear constantly. Although the bluetooth works, it does not allow you to connect with another phone and share and retrieve things such as ring tones and games.

The Cost: The phone itself is quite expensive. In addition to the cost of the phone you also have to pay an extra twenty dollars a month for something called a "data plan" in order to be able to use the Internet, and without a data plan, the phone does not work properly. The data plan does not include other costs such as text messages, so you have to pay for those separately. With both of those extras, the cost can add up rather quickly on your monthly bill.

The only thing that I can think of that is actually positive about this phone is the fact that it does have the keyboard which makes it very easy to send text messages. If you can live with all the things listed above, then the sidekick 3 is probably the perfect phone for you, but in my opinion, this phone is not worth the amount of money you have to pay for it.
