When the farmer woke up this morning, his family was gone. He couldn't find them anywhere. The car was here; their beds were folded; but they themselves were gone. Then, there was a flute playing in the distance.
AH-HA!! There they are!
The farmer got his hat and began walking in the direction of the noise. He may have walked about two miles, and every step he took, he got angrier and angrier. His daughter knows he would not tolerate this. It's harvesting season, and he cannot waste his time patrolling where his family is. The flute noise kept getting louder and louder, and he reached the forest. On the outskirts of his farm, the forest reigned. Deep in the dark forest the flute noise was still playing a happy tune, and the farmer became outraged. He could imagine what his family was doing: his daughter playing a happy tune and his wife watching her perform. His wife has been with him for years though. She knows it's harvesting season. They cannot waste time during this time of the year. Why couldn't they at least tell him where they were going?
He stepped into the forest, and suddenly the sky turned black. The farmer looked at the sky, and wondered what happened. His watch said 10:00 a.m. The farmer, thinking there was an eclipse, glared at the sky, and saw a beautiful eclipse. The flute song suddenly turned from a happy tune into a sad piece of music. Thinking they were very close, he began running to find his nearby family.
The longer he ran, the sadder the tune played. The sadder the tune played, the darker the sky became. Everything was interrelated.
While he ran deeper into the forest, he ran faster into the forest, and the music suddenly stopped.
"Hello!?!?!?" he cried. There was no response. He shouted a couple more times, and heard some leaves ruffling ahead of him. The farmer smiled, and cried, "I found you!" The whole forest suddenly became as dark as night. It was too dark to be an eclipse. Behind him, a red glow dimly lit the forest. The farmer looked behind him, and there was a pair of glowing red eyes glaring at his flesh. The farmer felt as if his soul shifted inside of him. He could feel the red eyes glaring, glaring, and glaring at him.
"I found you," the thing growled, and walked out of the bushes. It was a half-dog and half-ape looking creature. It stood on four legs and used its knuckles, and had a jaw shaped like a lion. Foam dripped from its mouth, and the thing suddenly charged at the farmer with a hungry look in its eye.
The farmer dodged the creature's clutch, and sprinted away. The creature stopped, and howled to signify the hunt. The farmer tripped on a tree root, and fell on something soft. He looked on what he fell on, and to his horror, discovered a severed hand holding a flute. After the creature behind him howled, numerous howls originated all over the forest. The creatures had surrounded him.
He rose and ran as fast as he could. He reached for his handgun in his pocket and turned the safety off. Five creatures, flocking to get the first dish of fresh meat, were chasing him, and the farmer shot relentlessly behind him while he ran. He missed all his shots due to the difficulty of firing behind his back, but he noticed a creature high in the trees. The creature extended its claws and dived, expecting to pounce the human when it landed. The farmer extended his gun, shot him in mid air, and kept on running. Suddenly, the red glows from all the creatures vanished. The farmer looked behind him, and noticed the creatures were not after him anymore. Every beam of red light from the eyes were focused on the dead creature. The animals stood still and looked at the corpse as if they have never encountered death. They looked back at the farmer, and back at the body. There was silence. Then, they dove into the body and viciously started tearing the dead creature apart. The farmer shot two more of them, and suddenly there were a few dozen creatures competing over the dead bodies. The farmer just stared at the scramble in amazement. The animals even killed each other while competing for a few scraps of meat. The farmer quietly walked back to his farm, cautiously watching to see if any of the apes ran out of meat and tried to pursue him. Eventually, he reached his farm, and the sky was back to normal. When he arrived to his house, there were two graves by his front door. There never were any graves by his front door before, and the farmer felt as if he was going crazy. On the first tomb, the word Birth was engraved, and on the second tomb, the word Life. He did not know how the graves magically appeared there, but he knew the animals would follow his scent. He gathered all of his ammunition, and loaded his weapons.
Then, he heard a flute playing in the distance. He looked towards its origin, but saw nothing. Then, another flute noise came from the north. A lower pitched flute noise came from the south, and another came from the northeast. Eventually there were dozens of flute noises coming from all directions. A third grave appeared by his front door, and this time the word Death was engraved. The farmer looked around him, and thousands of creatures surrounded his home. They were all growling and charging at him on four legs. The farmer took his handgun and shot at them, but no matter how well he aimed, the creatures kept charging. They kept getting closer and closer, and soon one leaped twenty feet into the air, about to land on the farmer. The farmer, instead of aiming at the creature, pointed the barrel to his head, and fired.
