There is a little song bird;
Who can sing no more;
Every time she tries;
Her tiny voice cracks;
And her throat gets knotted;
From the sadness in her heart;
The flock doesn't notice;
As their music filled the air;
Beautiful and plush harmonies;
High in the forest canopies;
She was once like them;
And sang with all her heart;
Now the notes won't come;
She gets frustrated and mad;
As she is gasping for air;
She wants to be like the rest;
Happy, cheerful and content;
To sing as they do would make so her happy;
But she can no longer pretend happiness;
So she has silently slipped away;
No music comes from her at all now;
But in the silence of the evening;
When all is quiet and still;
Every now and then;
If you listen close enough;
You may hear that single little bird;
Singing in her weak, tiny voice
Who can sing no more;
Every time she tries;
Her tiny voice cracks;
And her throat gets knotted;
From the sadness in her heart;
The flock doesn't notice;
As their music filled the air;
Beautiful and plush harmonies;
High in the forest canopies;
She was once like them;
And sang with all her heart;
Now the notes won't come;
She gets frustrated and mad;
As she is gasping for air;
She wants to be like the rest;
Happy, cheerful and content;
To sing as they do would make so her happy;
But she can no longer pretend happiness;
So she has silently slipped away;
No music comes from her at all now;
But in the silence of the evening;
When all is quiet and still;
Every now and then;
If you listen close enough;
You may hear that single little bird;
Singing in her weak, tiny voice

Post a CommentSad, beautiful, lovely and oh so enchanting.
Awesome work!!! I think at least once in life many of us have lost our voice for a moment. The voice is not literal, but can represent desire, fire, confidence, courage, willingness, faith, and so on. I know I have lost my voice many of times, but I thank God for his strength and spirit of restoration every day. To all who read this,...... Keep singing and it's only a matter of time......Peace!!!
So sad. I hope the songbird stops struggling soon. Nicely written.
Beautiful poem and yet so sad. Love the picture too.
This is really awesome. Yeah, believe it or not, I listen, also!
I don't know why this touched me but it did. Honestly.
Oh...I love this one !!!
Reading this was like tuning the radio in and finding one of those melancholy melodies that I love to listen to in the dark while it is raining outside. Just sigh, and listen, and breathe. Thanks for that.
Beautiful poem Lisa, and what a pretty little bird.
this was SO beautiful!
