The Silly Villanelle of a Lily on a Turn so Hilly

Julie Wimmer
This is so very silly,
trying to write poetry and learn,
should I write about a lily?

They shine and are frilly,
those lily's living on that turn;
enjoyed around the turn so hilly.

A flower doesn't like chilly,
the lily prefers warm weather concern;
should I write about a lily?

Popular thing this hardy filly,
a flower so pretty yet stern;
enjoyed around the turn so hilly.

Colors have meaning so silly,
love, passion, viginity, purity and burn;
should I write about a lily?

Beauty this flower does earn,
meaningful as we study and learn,
enjoyed around the turn so hilly,
should I write about a lily?

    actually davida, as long as the last lines alternate like they have in this one and are used in the last quatrain as the two last lines, it is still considered a villanelle

    Good start here, but I think you forgot that both lines 1 and 3 of the first tercet have to alternate as the last lines of the middle tercets and then become the last two lines of the final quatrain. But it really is a good effort.
