The simplest diet you can go on is one where you simply avoid eating anything white. Here are some foods that fall into the white food category.
White potatoes.
These carry much less nutrition than their deep orange relative, the sweet potato. In fact, white potatoes aren't even considered a vegetable. They are considered a starch. Baked white potatoes cause your body to release excess insulin. When insulin levels spike, the body's fat burning process gets shut down. The excess sugar goes to your muscles. However, when those muscle energy stores are full, all of that excess sugar gets converted to fat. White potatoes and most white foods fall into the category of insulin spiking foods.
More foods that fall into this category include things like potato chips, white bread, pretzels made with white flour, white rice, crackers, cakes, cookies and pies (all made with white flour.) The category also includes tortilla breads and other snack foods made with white flour.
Another reason to avoid white foods that spike energy levels is that the body digests these types of foods quickly. That means you will feel hungrier sooner. On the other hand, the body takes longer to break down high fiber foods and protein-rich foods, meaning you will feel fuller for much longer. If you actually went for an entire week trying to avoid many starchy or white-flour foods and sugar, you should notice a change not only on the scale, but also in your body's appearance. You will probably notice that you are a bit less flabby.
Again, losing weight doesn't have to be complicated. If successful weight loss is your goal, just remember one thing: If it's white think twice.
