The game play is smooth. There are a few skips if you have too many Sims in the picture it at the same time. That is only when you have too many people in the frame. This will only happen if you computer has a 32 Bit OS. If you have a 64 Bit OS, it will work perfectly and never skip.
The game costs about $50, but you can get it for a lot less on EBay. It runs on both Windows and Mac. It is compatible with Vista, XP, and Windows 7. On Mac, it is not compatible with Tiger, but works with Snow Leopard and Leopard.
The game will eventually get boring. There is no real plot, and after you play about 3 generations or so the game gets extremely repetitive. I mean, you can always earn more Simoleons (money), but once you earn so much money, there is no point in earning more. I have played the game for about 30 minutes per day, and was able to own every item, the nicest house, and accomplished 5 generations of living.
I loved the game for about 3 months, but after that it gets really painful to play. If I were you, I would choose Spore. Spore is more interesting and way more fun. If you are able to play a repetitive game for a long period of time, this is your game. If not, get a different game.
