The Singletree in the Snowstorm
Always there but missed by most
Never is the question asked
What is that thing next to the post?
What in the world was its task?
On display for all to see
Hanging on our poolside fence
Used with harness, a singletree
The strength of horses it did dispense
A whim today made me ponder
After a picture in the snow
If it could talk, hmmm, I wonder
What has it seen, I want to know
Perhaps hauling grain to a mill
Maybe it drug out some logs
Pulling hickory up a hill
Or removing oak from the bogs
Why decide to pen this verse?
Can't come up with a reason
Just some rambling to disperse
After taking photos of the season
Showing the Singletree in the Snowstorm
