The Six Sexiest Women Over 40 in Hollywood 2009

Women in our culture live their lives under considerable pressure to be beautiful, young looking and sexy. The pressures come from everywhere. Magazines, billboards, newspapers, movies and TV shows constantly present the ideal woman as being in her late teens or early twenties. No wonder that by the time a woman reaches age 25, she starts to lose hope of ever being able to be sexy again. And when she reaches 30, well - we're all familiar with the stigma attached to that notorious age hurdle.

The following six ladies all beat the odds, and as such give new hope to women everywhere. These women not only passed 30 and retained their sex appeal, they've made it past 40 and are still some of Hollywood's hottest ladies. (Yes ladies, you can be over 40 and still super sexy.) Following is my personal list of the six sexiest, over 40 ladies in Hollywood.

1. Jennifer Aniston - 40

She was my favorite friend on Friends. Jennifer Aniston, her viral haircut and always toned body still bring in $8 million plus when directors call her to the table! Jennifer Aniston can convincingly play an array of characters. I am a big fan of her TV and film career; however, her best work has been in the movies. Her sexiest work has been in photos. She recently shot a classy, yet sexy photo spread for GQ Magazine. No argument, she is still sexy and 40!

I can't honestly think of a movie I have seen Jennifer Aniston be sexy in. I'm sure others see it differently. My favorite Jennifer Aniston comedy movie is Along Came Polly with Ben Stiller from 2004. The best drama Jennifer Aniston did was Derailed with Clive Owen in 2005. She played a woman who was part of a con-game.

Jennifer Aniston has had a very public personal life. She married Brad Pitt and seven years later they divorced. After that, Jennifer Aniston hooked up with actor Vince Vaughn. Right now Jennifer Aniston is spending time with smooth songwriter John Mayer. I've read many times that she wants to have kids. I hope she doesn't pause her acting career for too long to do so. Selfish aren't I?

2. Halle Berry - 42

This sexy woman has been one of the most naturally beautiful, smoking' hot and most talented actresses in Hollywood for 10 years now. Halle Berry is the only African American actress to ever win an Oscar statue. Being sexy on film is not a problem for Halle Berry. Some of my favorite Halle Berry films are; Cat Woman, Boomerang, The Flintstones, X-Men, Swordfish, and Monster's Ball. The fact that she was a Bond Girl in Die Another Day says a lot about how sexy Halle is perceived to be in Hollywood.

Halle Berry's personal life has not received the tabloid scrutiny of some of the other women on my list. Halle Berry has been married twice and divorced twice. First to a baseball player, second to a musician. Right now she is raising her baby daughter with her boyfriend, male supermodel Gabriel Aubry, who is ten years her junior. Hmm, sexy cougar might be a better label for Halle Berry these days. Halle is currently takinig time from her career to be a sexy hands-on mom. I hope she is finding time to read scripts too. 3. Teri Hatcher - 43

What we have here is another Bond girl. Teri Hatcher played the sexy Paris Carver opposite Pierce Brosnan in Tomorrow Never Dies. I could stop here, but I won't. When this dark eyed vixen was starting out in Hollywood, she played Lois Lane in the New Adventures of Superman. You might also remember her as the sexy dancer from Tango & Cash. Most recently she has taken control of our Sunday nights when we tune into see her character, Susan Mayer in Desperate Housewives. Her somewhat twisted sex appeal on this show won her a Golden Globe in 2005.

Teri Hatcher's sex appeal has a lot to do with her personal life activities. She stays in perfect physical shape by keeping up with her 15 year old daughter and participating in triathlons. Although she has been married and divorced twice, Teri Hatcher has kept her career on track and largely out of the tabloids. What I find sexy about Teri Hatcher is that even though she is a woman over 40, she doesn't show signs of what I call cosmetic overdose.

During interviews I've noticed Teri Hatcher has a girl next door sex appeal that makes you want to ask her out to dinner. Her free flowing charismatic charm makes you think she would say yes! I hope she has continued success with Desperate Housewives. Her sexy persona has served her well in Hollywood. Not only does she act the part, but she looks the part too! Teri Hatcher will probably still be sexy at 60.

4. Marisa Tomei - 44

Another dark eyed beauty, Marisa Tomei seems to hold the secret to staying young. She managed to keep her petite figure in its youthful hard body form for almost three decades. Marisa Tomei got her start on the 80's TV show A Different World, moving on to star in films like Untamed Heart, Only You, and What Women Want. She won an Oscar for My Cousin Vinny in 1992. You might have seen her recently in Wild Hogs, or possibly remember her from the Seinfeld TV series.

Marisa Tomei is a master of sexy voices. She even lent her voice to the animated TV show The Simpsons, as movie star Sara Sloane. At over 40, Marisa Tomei is still turning out sexy bedroom scenes like the one in What Women Want, co-staring Mel Gibson.

We don't see much about Marisa Tomei's personal life in the tabloids. She's never been married, but has been in past relationships with the likes of Robert Downey, Jr. A woman who has seemingly kept to herself over the years, Marisa Tomei is sexy, single and over 40! She hasn't been real busy in Hollywood lately. The Wrestler was her last gig. I for one would like to see more of her on the big screen. Would somebody please throw this talented woman a sexy new script?

5. Jennifer Beals - 44

In the 80's, this sexy woman made every teenage girl cut the sleeves off their sweatshirts and t-shirts, get spiral perms and dream of being an exotic dancer. At barely 20 years old Jennifer Beals was already famous for being sexy and sweaty - at the same time. Even though most of the dancing was done by a double, Jennifer Beals' performance in Flashdance proved how easy it was for her to be an innocent presence and a strong, sexy woman all at once.

In 1989 Jennifer Beals played a blood thirsty vampire opposite Nicholas Cage in Vampire's Kiss. She had the right look for the character, and her performance was dead on. Another sexy role came her way during that same time: The Bride, co-starring Sting. Both movies allowed her to prove she had a natural sex appeal that audiences loved.

Recently Jennifer Beals finished an award winning five year stretch on the Showtime drama, L-Word. The show filmed its series finale the first of 2009, freeing up time for Jennifer Beals to get yet another gig on television. The sexy dark haired temptress is now starring opposite Tim Roth in Lie To Me on the FOX network. I highly recommend this show!

6. Mary-Louise Parker - 45

Mary-Louise Parker, is not your typical sex-pot. She is uniquely sexy. Many of the characters she has played have been women who seem almost addicted to sex. Her character in the award winning TV show Weeds made me a diehard fan of the sexy Mary-Louise Parker. In Showtime's dark comedy-drama, Weeds, she's a super sassy, sexy MILF growing and selling weed in Southern California.

The first time I remember seeing Mary-Louise Parker was in the movie The Client (1994), along with Tommy Lee Jones and Susan Sarandon. She was not nominated for any awards for her performance, although I think she should have been. Her dramatic performance was gritty, spot-on and convincing. I guess Mary-Louise Parker honed her dramatic acting skills when she got her start on the popular soap opera, Ryan's Hope.

Mary-Louise Parker has kept her personal life on the down low for the most part. She was married to Billy Crudup and the two of them have a son together. In 2007, Mary-Louise Parker adopted a baby girl from Ethiopia. She gets extra sexy stars for that selfless lifetime commitment. Mary-Louise Parker can effectively play a wide range of characters, and has legs that won't quit! She is the oldest woman on my list, however, Mary-Louise Parker is without a doubt the sexiest woman over 40 in Hollywood in 2009. At least in my opinion.
