Synopsis
The movie takes place at a plantation home in Terrebone Parish, Louisiana. Caroline Ellis (Kate Hudson) goes to the plantation to care for Ben Devereaux (John Hurt), who has had a stroke and cannot speak.
Ben's wife, Violet Devereaux (Gena Howlands) gives Caroline a skeleton key of the house. In exploring the house, Caroline discovers a secret room in the attic. This room contains creepy items, which Caroline discovers are used in Hoodoo magic.
Caroline suspects that Violet is using Hoodoo on Ben and sets out to protect Ben and break the spell.
This movie was filled with suspense and plot twists that were both creative and unexpected. The setting added to the creepiness. The ending to this edge-of-your-seat thriller will shock you.
