The Skeletons of Memory Lane

A.M. Morgan
It's cold inside this inner sanctuary

Yesterday's words produce today's tears

Although it's suppose to be over and done with

Harmful memories remain from the life of a fragile child

Although older and wiser the mental still can't seem to forget it

And the reflection in the mirror can't see beyond the insecurity of the past in order to freely live

While the success on the outside says there is not a skeleton to reveal

There is a hidden truth only the fearful can feel

For the struggle to love one's self beyond the pain is not an easy compliment to give

But the heart of the matter is it's time to let it all go and truly forgive

For what time remembers does not have to continue to define who the current person is
