The Small Waterfall

Magnificence in Miniature

David A. Reinstein, LCSW

Never confused with Naigra;

Or with the majestic

Water careening from the heights

Of Kauai's tropical peaks

Into the basins far below,

The small waters flowing

Over stones, sticks

And dirt

On the slightest downslope

In the most hidden forest

Carry in masterful microcosm

The same flow downwards,

Over whatever it flows over

To the place of its

Final destiny.

Size is sometimes awe-inspiring

Or, as some would claim,

Is of no real consequence

Whatever.

The small always contains the same

Essence

As the large

Rendering the measureable

Size, length, width ,

Weight, height. speed,

Volume or force of the flow

Possible distractions

From the inherent beauty,

Flow and natural

Calmness

Of nature's many wonders.

All is contained

In the small,

Whether in a human

Or in a minute

Waterfall.

Someone has to stand up for the little guy...even a waterfall. :)

Great lesson. In my photography I've taken many photos of mini water falls and cascades. They are beautiful to me.
