With the new "The Smurfs" movie out in theaters making parents who grew up watching the little blue guys groan in pain as their children giggle uncontrollably, they'll be happy to know that Warner Bros has released a 2-disc set of classic episodes from the original series. The set features 10 episodes from Season Two of the Saturday morning television hit and is entitled "The Smurfs: A Magical Smurf Adventure." After getting back from the theater, you can cleanse yourself and show your kids what the real hype was all about around the magical creatures that were three apples high.

For those who have been living in an isolated forest somewhere, "the Smurfs are a group of over 100 bluish, three-apple tall creatures who live in the mushroom homes of Smurf Village. They are led by 543-year-old Papa Smurf (who doesn't look a day over 530). Their lives would be perfect were it not for their villainous Gargamel, a wizard who spends his days trying to capture them to eat, turn into gold, or for other evil reasons. Gargamel's cat Azrael adds to the menace, always looking for a tasty, Smurfy snack."

"The Smurfs: A Magical Smurf Adventure" includes the episodes "Smurf Van Winkle," "Revenge of the Smurfs," "Magic Fountain," "Smurf Me No Flowers," "The Cursed Country," "The Blue Plague," "The Ring of Castellac," "A Mere Truffle," "Gormandizing Greedy," and "Sister Smurf." Each episode features everyone's favorite characters like Lazy, Brainy, Smurfette, Hefty, Clumsy, Papa Smurf, and others. No Smurf fan will be disappointed as they embark on their crazy adventures.

There are only two extra features on "The Smurfs: A Magical Smurf Adventure." The first one is "Smurf Speak" and it shows fans how to "express yourself the Smurf way." The next bonus is a showcase of the top 10 moments of Season Two called "Smurftastic Moments."

If you or your children are fans of The Smurfs, then you'll love "The Smurfs: A Magical Smurf Adventure." If you're looking for a good digital restoration as a collector of all things little and blue, I'm afraid you'll still be waiting. This is obviously a quick DVD transfer to cash in on the release of the movie in the theater. There's been no picture clean-up and the soundtrack is still mono.

"The Smurfs: A Magical Smurf Adventure" is only available in a regular DVD format. You can purchase it right here.
