The SNL Christine O'Donnell Masturbation Skit Took Aim at the Tea Party's GOP Delaware US Senatorial Candidate
The SNL Christine O'Donnell Masturbation Skit Takes the Delaware Senatorial Candidate to Task over Her Past
The skit opens the comedy program and takes place at the Republican National Committee Headquarters in Washington, D.C. An actress playing Christine O'Donnell (Kristen Wiig) comes in and talks to her handlers who tell her they want to support her quest to win the Delaware US Senatorial Seat despite the media's fascination with her past beliefs and activities. They proceed to ask her about some of her comments about things like her past dabbling in witchcraft as a teenager and her anti-masturbation campaign. But the GOP Senatorial candidate goes off on a tangent during the skit about how she had the wrong idea about what masturbation was when she campaigned against it. But now, the pretend Christine O'Donnell tells her handlers how preoccupied she currently is with it, even wanting the meeting to get over with quickly so she can do more of it. The actress even says she's been involved with dog fights that basically put Michael Vick to shame as well as arson "for revenge." And when the meeting is over, the pretend Christine O'Donnell puts on a witch's hat and flies off the stage with a broom, and proclaims the famous words, "Live from New York, it's Saturday night."
Even if the Delaware GOP US Senatorial candidate is made to look more foolish around the nation via this SNL Christine O'Donnell masturbation skit, the people should realize that the only voters this can affect are those registered to vote in one state. Did SNL act tasteless by airing a parody with such subject matter, or is the past activities of political candidates fair game, no matter what?
