Did you ever wonder what goes on in your freezer when you close the door: This is my answer:
Long ago, people had to carry huge chunks of ice to their homes to keep their food cold and icy. This was a very distressing ritual, hardest in the summer when the ice melted easily. They wished for an easier way.
One day a mysterious man by the name of Frost visited the town called Flame. He had been watching them and talking little for a month when he displayed his wondrous invention. The technology he used was unheard of at that time. It is still a mystery to all but his descendants. I am the last of his kind to pass on the secret. Sadly, I have a short time left and no relative to tell.
Shall I tell you? Would you understand? Only the pure of heart, gentle of soul, and those who hold the wonder of a child within them fully grasp the Frost story. However, you might find it entertaining.
Once in the time of unicorns, woodland fairies, and sprightly creatures, there were decades of ice. A loving Snow Queen and her son Jack ruled the kingdom. The free- spirited, childlike creatures adapted easily to the icy climate. Everyday there was a new game to play. The fairies loved to create beautiful sculptures in the ice. Unicorns enjoyed sliding down the white landscape. Everything was cool.
The Snow Queen became ill and the climate changed with her rising temperature. She told prince Jack everything she knew hoping he could save the kingdom. She gave him her only piece of jewelry, a snow crystal ring. He cast a spell over the entire kingdom and locked it safely inside the magic ring. He left in search of a safe environment for his creatures.
Decades short of a century passed until one day he found himself in a small down with a big problem. These people needed him. It gave him and idea that would solve two problems at once. He worked day and night for a month, but it was worth it. Frost devised a box that appears in this dimension, but safely held part of his kingdom. When the box was open a normal human being could not see the sprightly characters. All mortals knew was that they plug in a cord, which is actually quite useless, and it keeps their food cold.
It is a shame that they cannot see the beautiful ice formations that are dismissed as annoying frost. Their eyes cannot see a fairy ski on French fries or unicorns sled on fish sticks. Were you wondering why your ice cream never lasts? To the Frost creatures it is flavored snow.
That's my story to accept or reject, but think twice the next time you put something in the freezer and hear faint laughter.
