Top 10 Quotes from 'The Social Network'

Bryan Mckinley
The top ten best quotes from 'The Social Network' are a mixture of funny and serious. All of the quotes from 'The Social Network' pretty much have one thing in common, though; they are filled with sarcastic overtones. Maybe that is why I enjoyed the film so much. There is debate as to how much of 'The Social Network' is based on truth and how much is not. 'The Social Network' stars Jessie Eisenberg as Mark Zuckerberg and entails the creation of Facebook, and the legal issues that arose from it. Supporting roles are played by Justin Timberlake and Andrew Garfield in this David Fincher directed film. The film is based off of the Ben Mezric book, 'The Accidental Billionaires.' Most of the best quotes from 'The Social Network' come from Jessie Eisenberg's character Mark Zuckerberg, but the best one or two zingers are left for the supporting cast.

Here are the top 10 'The Social Network' quotes:

Calling Captain Obvious. We have a quote for you sir.

Mark Zuckerberg: If you guys were the inventors of Facebook, you'd have invented Facebook.

So what, you are saying is girls don't like him? Throw in some fame, some money and what is it that we got here. All of a sudden nerdy A$$hole is the new trend.

Erica Albright: You are probably going to be a very successful computer person. But you're going to go through life thinking that girls don't like you because you're a nerd. And I want you to know, from the bottom of my heart, that that won't be true. It'll be because you're an a$$hole.

Everybody needs a ping-pong room

Mark Zuckerberg: Ma'am, I know you've done your homework and so you know that money isn't a big part of my life, but at the moment I could buy Mt. Auburn Street, take the Phoenix Club, and turn it into my ping-pong room.

Kind of pathetic where our priorities are sometimes isn't it? Then again, roads do cost a lot more than logging onto facebook.

Marylin Delpy: What are you doing?
Mark Zuckerberg: Checking in to see how it's going in Bosnia.
Marylin Delpy: Bosnia. They don't have roads, but they have Facebook.

I think that went well. That is except for that breaking up and no friends' part of course.

Erica Albright: I think we should just be friends.
Mark Zuckerberg: I don't want friends.
Erica Albright: I was being polite, I had no intention of being friends with you.

This quote sums up Jesse Eisenberg's portrayal of Mark Zuckerberg in The Social Network pretty well. He is just a complete smarta$$.

Gretchen: 18,000 dollars?
Eduardo Saverin: Yes.
Gretchen: In addition to the $1,000 you'd already put up?
Eduardo Saverin: Yes.
Gretchen: A total of $19,000 now?
Eduardo Saverin: Yes.
Mark Zuckerberg: Hang on.
[Mark sarcastically adds up the 2 amounts on his notepad]
Mark Zuckerberg: I'm just checking your math on that. Yes, I got the same thing.

Ahem...Where is my award for my illegal activities?

Mark Zuckerberg: "As for any charges stemming from the breach of security, I believe I deserve some sort of recognition from this Ad Board."
Administrator: "I'm sorry"
Mark Zuckerberg: "Yes."
Administrator: "I don't understand."
Mark Zuckerberg: "Which part?"
Administrator: "You believe you deserve some recognition?"
Mark Zuckerberg: "I pointed out some pretty gaping holes in your system."

When you said, "May I have your attention please?" You didn't mean all of it, did you?

Lawyer: "Mr. Zuckerberg, do I have your full attention?"
Mark Zuckerberg: "No."
Lawyer: "Do you think I deserve it?"
Mark Zuckerberg: "What?"
Lawyer: "Do you think I deserve your full attention?"
Mark: "I had to swear an oath before we began this deposition, and I don't want to perjure myself, so I have a legal obligation to say no."
Lawyer: "Okay...no. You don't think I deserve your attention."
Mark Zuckerberg: "I think if your clients want to sit on my shoulders and call themselves tall, they have the right to give it a try, but there's no requirement that I enjoy sitting here listening to people lie. You have part of my attention - you have the minimum amount. The rest of my attention is back at the offices of Facebook, where my colleagues and I are doing things that no one in this room, including and especially your clients, are intellectually or creatively capable of doing. Did I adequately answer your condescending question?

The best quote of the movie in my opinion. It's just so simple, yet oddly funny.

Tyler Winklevoss: [Talking about his twin and him] I'm 6'5", 220 pounds, and there are two of me.

A lesson to be learned from The Social Network. How many people have learned this the hard way?

Erica Albright: The internet's written in ink, Mark. It's not written in pencil.
