Novothink released the Solar iPhone Charger last year (in 2009) for the purpose of giving iPod and iPhone users the option of solar energy chargers. You can use sunlight, artificial light, or the USB cable to power the Solar iPhone Charger. It's about the size of the iPhone, only slightly larger (by a couple of centimeters) because the iPhone has to rest inside of the Solar iPhone Charger.
The Solar iPhone Charger, its USB cable, a Novothink lanyard and an instruction booklet come in the package. Since the Solar iPhone Charger has an internal Lithium-Ion battery, it needs to be charged when you first get it, and anytime after that if you use it on the battery. It has more power than regular iPhone batteries, so it'll last much longer than your phone. To charge it, connect it to your computer, which must be plugged into the wall, with the USB cable and let it sit for three hours.
Unless you want to sync music between your computer and your Solar iPhone Charger, disconnect it after three hours are up. The free Solar Planner application available from Novothink will help you decide how long to charge your battery for everyday use, depending on how long you expect to be outside. Whether you just choose to let it go at the standard three hours or not, there are some things you should know about connecting the Solar iPhone Charger to your iPhone. First of all, don't force it- the Solar iPhone Charger was made specifically for second generation iPhones and newer. Start at the top of the charger and slide your iPhone down; when it's connected, you'll see a battery icon appear on the screen.
Now that the Solar iPhone Charger is fully charged and you know how to use it properly, you're ready to go. You can even listen to your phone while it's plugged in if you like, as there's an earphone plug-in on the bottom of the charger.
As soon as the Solar iPhone Charger senses that your battery power is low, at about twenty percent, it turns on and starts charging. You don't have to think about it, or keep an eye on the battery. It will also stop charging when the device is fully charged, so you can conserve the Solar iPhone Charger's power.
Those who have tried the Solar iPhone Charger loved its portability. They also liked the fact that it's solar powered, giving them the green option, and it acts as a backup battery. More than anything else, though, they cheered its affordability as an alternative energy device. If you want an affordably green charger, check out the Solar iPhone charger. It's extremely portable and intuitive.
