The Solution for Severely Dry Hands: Burt's Bees Hand Salve

Merz
If you have super dry skin, the kind that breaks open and bleeds for no reason at all, you probably know that regular lotions don't always work to combat the problem. I have tried almost every kind of "sensitive skin" or "highly moisturizing" lotion I could find for my dry, cracked hands. No matter how much lotion I lathered on them countless times a day, nothing seemed to be able to stop the stinging dryness of my extremely dry hands.

I had been hearing great things about Burt's Bees products for some time before I started trying them out, and they have their fair share of hand lotions that look like every other lotion. The hand salve is another story though. From the moment you open Burt's Bees Hand Salve, you can see the difference. It isn't a lotion. It's a heavy salve. Made for the grueling manual labor of farming, it is exceptionally strong when fighting the effects of outdoor exposure on your skin. It feels as slimy as you might expect when you put in on, but two minutes later, the greasy feeling fades and your hands feel like they have gone off to hand heaven.

I am not a scientist, so I would not begin to say what active ingredient or ingredients in Burt's Bees Hand Salve make it so beneficial. All I know is that the stuff works. When I first purchased the hand salve, in the middle of winter, my hands were all dried out and cracked open. In less than a week of daily usage, usually once in the morning and again before I went to bed at night, my hands healed and became the softest I have ever felt them.

I do not have the severe problems with dry hands during the summer months, but when I have noticed them feeling dry, like after doing the dishes, a little bit of the hand salve clears it up overnight. This salve would likely be too greasy for the average lotion user, and it can be somewhat slippery when you first put it on, making it difficult to do daily activities until it dries, but it is highly effective where most lotions fail. If you are in the category of having severely dry hands, this is definitely a must have product.

When searching for Burt's Bees products, you'll find that prices can vary substantially from store to store, so it's always best to shop around. I have seen the hand salve priced anywhere from $6.95 to over $10 per can, but there is almost always a sale going on at one drugstore or another online. If you ever shop online at drugstore.com, I would highly recommend it for Burt's Bees products.
