The Sommelier Society of America offers wine taste testing, professional consultations, and educational classes about wine and wine related offerings. They are designed for all types of skill level and those who may have some knowledge already in wine. While they are headquartered in New York City, they also have Long Island and Westchester chapters that host classes as well. The New York City chapter has its main offerings, but the Westchester and Long Island hosts periodically have their own meetings and classes. In addition to wine they also have events with single malts, rum, and cognacs. The 20 week Certificate course has its participants taste testing over 120 wines with price tags totally over $6,000. In only five months you can really expand your wine knowledge and create the background for a new career if you'd like.
Classes are set up for the average wine consumer and for those in the business such as restaurant managers and bartenders, plus wine stewards. These credentials can help the resume of those seeking to better there professional look. Those who graduate from the course will be able to further their careers or start their own wine cellars and kitchens.
There are plenty of instructors at the Sommelier Society of America's 20 week certificate course, plus there are guest speakers as well. They all show you everything from reading a wine label to the proper way to sip wine. And with 120 different wines to try, you will be able to further your palate and be able to tell the difference between the subtle nuances of the flavours.
There are no automated responses with the class and the service at the Sommelier Society of America. They have a live people that answer your questions. They really seem to care about furthering wine education to everyone that wishes to learn. Their goal is listed as "To be there for those who have a curiosity, an inquiry, or a host of questions".
