On all days from 11am to 10pm, or 11pm on Friday and Saturday nights, kids and adults can enjoy carnival rides such as the Super Slide, Zipper, Orbiter, Dizzy Dragons, Busy Bees, Baby Eli, Kamikazi, Super Shot, Dog Ride, Tip Top and The Giant Wheel. When hungry or looking to quench your thirst, there is a lot of fair food to pick from. Food choices include burgers, corndogs, fish & chips, Italian, Asian, Greek and Mexican food. Do not let me forget the dessert carts where you can get waffle cones, ice cream, funnel cake, fudge, cinnamon rolls, apple pie, candy apples, cotton candy and more.
There is a lot more to the Sonoma County fair than just the rides and food. Every day of the fair at either the Park Stage or Redwood Theater (most of the time both), you will be able to see and hear live entertainers. The Budweiser Clydesdales will be hooked up and traveling around the fair. When not out and about, they can be seen and photographed in their stalls.
On Friday July 31 at 8pm, the CCPRA Rodeo will take place in the Chris Beck arena. The Bull Riding Competition is Saturday at 8pm and on Sunday at 6pm is the Mexican Rodeo. Horse racing will take place off and on throughout the length of the fair. After the parade on Tuesday August 4, is the Tractor Pulls beginning at 7pm. The swine, poultry and beef auction will be taking place on Thursday and Friday. Then there are two nights in a row of Destruction Derby, starting with a $3,000 purse for each night.
These are not even half of what the Sonoma County Fair has to offer, they are just a few of the bigger events for each day. Other event and activities that can be found throughout the fair include Dinosaur Island, Pork Chop Review, the Fido 500, Flower Show, Wizard Fest, fair animals, Prehistoric Rock, speakers and many demonstrations.
There are also many contests for kids and families to join and participate in. A few of these fun contests are Dinosaur Bingo, Diaper Derby, Lego Construction, Scarecrow Building, Milk Moustache Contest, jump Rope and Family Look-Alike.
With so much to do at the Sonoma County Fair, everyone is sure to have a great time and kids will have a hard time getting bored.
