The Space Between Heart Beats
A clock ticks
and the rain
drips.
These are the days
of our
endless
tedium.
When the hours
march
like Father Time
and Old Man Wind
in their unrelenting
passage
from eternity -
to eternity.
And these are the days
which drag
s l o w e r
than the space
between the beats
of a heart
grown apathetic.
A clock ticks
and the rain
drips.

A jewel, I like the picture and title too.
Thank you my friends for your words. I read (both of) your words with interest - though not a verbose fellow, I shall attempt to remedy that!
as always amigo... nice wordsmithing
PS--love the title.
Excellent and thought provoking, as usual. I wish more people would read your poems, as I do not see any other comments. may I offer some friendly advice? If you read other's works, they may visit your page more often, too. You have to make connections here to develop a following of people who like to read all your posts. It is worth the time, but takes some investment of time input in the beginning. It took me months to realize this, so I thought to pass on the tip. ;-)
