Some houses have so many lights it is difficult to pick out the house. They surround there houses with lighted trees and stars that are so very festive, I would say those people are really into the spirit of Christmas and some people just have a simple star up or just one thing and those houses still look very nice. Inside some houses you can look in the window and see a Christmas tree all lite up with different colored lights. It is nice to see all the different colored lights up this year.
In our neighbor hood we have a total of 5 houses and all of them have some kind of lights up. That is unusual for all the houses to have lights up. In past years sometimes only one house had any lights up and the neighbor hood looked like it did every other day of the year.
I remember growing up in the 70's when there were electric shortages and people could not afford to have lights up so not too many people did have lights on there houses. It was drab to go out looking for some lights and the holiday spirit was just not out there as much. Some towns didn't bother putting up there Christmas lights to help keep the electric costs down. Now there are lights up in many places and it is really a great feeling of holiday spirit when you see all the lights glowing. Some towns and villages have parks that they light up and you can walk through them and the feeling you get from walking through these parks is magical. We didn't have such a thing in the 70's and I really do enjoy it now. It makes the season fool special to me and I don't take it for granted since there wasn't as much of it around as when I was little.
This year I hope you get a chance in your busy Christmas schedule to go out and see the Christmas lights that are out there. Some people put a lot of work into there lights as a Christmas present for those who come by. As you go out this year I hope you feel the spirit of Christmas and be glad for all the things we have these days that have not always been around to enjoy. By going out and enjoying the new and different Christmas lights that are out this year I hope it can add to your holiday cheer.
