The Spirit of Inspiration

Marcus Auraleous
Inspiration defined in Webster's dictionary as a divine influence directly and immediately exerted upon the mind or soul. Although true, Webster has left out one key factor, determination. Inspiration and determination are commonly seen as one and the same.

Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, born on October 2nd 1869, an extremely powerful and influential spiritual and political leader in India whilst the Indian independence movement was still in effect. This spiritual leader influenced millions of people all across the globe (me included) with his message of peaceful resistance also known as non-violent civil-disobedience.

Although Gandhi was involved in very controversial encounters with younger women, his message to steady your will and stay nonviolent in order to persevere stayed strong throughout his entire life.

Frank Lucas, the infamous American Gangster, and one of, if not the top drug lord of the 20th century. Worth more than two hundred million dollars in cash and various narcotics. He virtually owned and operated Harlem. He headed a multi million-dollar heroin operation supplied from a hidden contact in Asia and sold throughout the streets of Harlem.

Although normal people go entirely uninspired by this criminal, others (me included) can find a strong source of inspiration within his strong determination to become the best. He did whatever was necessary for him to get to the top, and as Frank Lucas said, become Johnny on the spot.

Jesus God Christ the Son of the Almighty God and perhaps one of the most inspirational figures ever to inhabit this planet. Performed unimaginable and seemingly impossible feats under the harsh scrutiny of the ignorant and or unbelievers. Christ's message was to inspire believers into action, and to convince nonbelievers into believing and eventually into action. Jesus inspired thousands by spreading the word of God throughout the Middle Eastern world and eventually the entire world through his apostles (through divine intervention he still influences some if not all people today).

Even though these are all capital sources of inspiration, in this day and age a much more common source of inspiration is a person's best friend. Best friends can motivate, encourage, help to raise moral when one faces the trials that come along in life. He or she could be the reason someone decides to go to a community service program and inadvertently helps to change someone's life.

Friends can provide support, or could turn out to be an extreme detriment in a person's life. Precisely which of these a person's friend turns out to be is irrelevant because of the fact that either way they still have been inspired by their best friend in some way, shape, or form.

There are many different places or people that may provide you with inspiration for anything. From helping out in the community, to complex, life changing decisions that all have to make at some point during their lifetime(s). Although inspiration may be seen simply as a way to focus on a goal(s), the odds of surviving in this world without it are very slim. Imagine a world in which one awakes in the morning with no inspiration (motivation), to do any of the seemingly quotidian/mundane things that all must do for survival; it would fail to function.

This shows just how essential inspiration is for not only society, but for survival, both physical and mental.
