The Sport of Bungee Jumping Seen as a Stunt

This is also true in the case of the public and the media. While one may not be able to say for sure which one influences the other, it is an accepted fact that each of them has some influence over each other. Most of the younger generation and some of the older ones as well of the general public are much into the media in the form of movies, often in the habit of imitating the actions of their favorite stars. Accent, style, clothing, appearance and attitude are a few of the aspects that they adopt into their lifestyles. Stunts are no exception either, especially those stunts that are also considered as sports such as bungee jumping.

The other side of the coin is that most of the movie directors out there basically adopt the mannerisms and behavior patterns of regular American way of life and existence and the fact that this espousal makes the movies and serials on screen even more popular are but one of reasons behind this practice.

In Hollywood, bungee jumping stunts are very popular. The movie "golden eye" shows James Bond takeoff from the edge of a dam in a spectacular example of the bungee jump. It goes without saying that bungee jumping companies are on the increase. These companies offer specialized training for those stunt men, actors and actresses who plan to appear for stunts like bungee jumping. Basically on a movie set, their is always a group of people specialized in performing stunts to assist the actors, but the observation that many of the public also involves in this activity only reveals the immensity of the popularity of the sport.

The "golden eye" bungee jump, performed by the James bond character and Wayne Michaels as his stunt double, was one of the most popular and admired jump stunts ever filmed. But it is not one of its kinds, because more companies, actors and stunt performers have challenged the accomplishment and even tried to do better.

The company known as bungee America is the foremost of Hollywood's bungee jumping stunt companies. It has aided the filming of 45 Hollywood movies since 1996. The first off these stunts was performed by Arnold Schwarzenegger in the movie named "Eraser". The impressive fact about this stunt is that Schwarzenegger did not use a stunt double and fell 65 feet, doing a back flip. This is a notable feat due to the fact that Schwarzenegger's fans were thrilled and inspired at this daring stunt and resulted in an increase of the respect they already had, for the actor.

The fact that bungee jumping is appealing to the media and that much of the public is very interested in it, is quite evident that bungee jumping is going to be around for a long time. The more the media portrays it in their movies the more the public will want to be associated with it. The media is a powerful source of advertising and promotion and any subject or idea portrayed on it is bound to reach thousands and thousands of rapt audiences who are on tenterhooks to try it out themselves. Therefore the more bungee jumping is used on screen the more popular it will be to all those who share a love for dangerous outdoor sports.
