The menu buttons re actual buttons - a total of four. The up/down buttons change the channels and brings up the menu options. The left and right buttons are for menu options as well as changing the categories. These buttons are the same on the handy remote control.
This model also includes a favorites button in which you are able to save up to thirty of your favorite stations for convenience so you're not wasting your valuable time searching for them. The menu button on the top of the receiver makes it easy to access some of the other advanced features and personalize your settings, making the Sportscaster XM more of personal experience instead of just another radio.
When its time to activate your Sportscaster XM Satellite Radio, its made very easy. Once you've powered up your receiver, you should use the up and down arrow buttons to tune it to channel zero. Once you have completed that, press the select button. There is an eight character (letters and numbers) that should pop up on the display screen.
This ID number should also be displayed package that the receiver was packaged in. Once you have your ID number the receiver can then be activated by either going to the website or by calling 1-800-XMRADIO. When calling or visiting the website you will need your XM receiver's ID number and a major credit card to complete activation.
The features and options of the Sportscaster XM Satellite Radio include quite a few. Along with being able to store thirty of your favorite stations, this comes in handy if you don't have the snappy remote with you. The radio also comes has a built in FM transmitter so you can set your options and listen via wireless transmitter. In the set up menu you can also adjust the audio levels which allows up to ten various levels of audio output.
There are also tuning options so that you can set your receiver either for manual tuning or automatic tuning. This will tune you in every time you change the channel. In the setup menu, you can also change your display options. Those include contrast, brightness, cycle display, scrolling, backlight, and time out. There is also a clock feature and an alarm built into the receiver.
With technology moving as fast as it is, what is in the future for XM satellite receivers? The creation of satellite radios has opened doors for a whole new look and feel for radio.
