This year the festival runs April 14-15 and offers endless discoveries of original art, pottery, paintings and more from local artists. The 2007 Spring Fine Arts and Crafts Festival will be held in Neptune Park, a gorgeous tree-shaded oceanfront venue with rolling lawns, a playground, miniature golf course, fishing pier and bandstand.
The event is sponsored by the Glynn Art Association, the oldest member-supported non-profit art organization in Glynn County. Glynn Art Association provides classes and workshops in an array of mediums from pastels to photography. The network of artists that the organization has built over fifty plus years brings fresh and unique works to the annual Spring Fine Arts and Crafts Festival on St. Simons Island.
Admission to the festival is free and it's not too late for artists to get involved, although the entry deadline of March 15 is fast approaching. Artist's who want to be a part of this year's Spring Fine Art and Crafts Festival on St. Simons Island should call (912) 638-8770 for information.
Of course, you don't have to be an artist to enjoy the festival and it's never too late to plan a trip to the Georgia shore just to see the one of the country's best seaside family vacation spots.
In addition to the Spring Fine Arts and Crafts Festival, St. Simons is alive with maritime history, natural wonder and other fun activities. St. Simon's Island offers plenty of activities and sights for the whole family.
History stands on St. Simons Island in a century-old lighthouse that protects the harbor and fishing village. An old colonial fort and church offer the opportunity to step back in time into the island's rich history.
Music, shops, museums, sightseeing tours, miniature golf, fishing and beautiful beaches invite visitors year round. Although the island is the most developed of Georgia's sea islands, St. Simons maintains a low key, laid back atmosphere absent of commercialized attractions.
The restaurants, pubs and lodgings are easy on the budget and the Sea Island Golf Club and The Hampton Club were both featured in Golf Digest and Golf Magazine. The links have gained attention from high profile golfers including former president George H. W. Bush who enjoyed the greens on a 2004 visit. In fact, the president's parents took their honeymoon nearby on Sea Island, GA.
St. Simons Island offers endless outdoor adventures through salt marshes and coastal estuaries and the easy going terrain is perfect for joggers, bikers and pedestrians. Nature trails wind through the island and there are countless nature programs for visitors of all ages.
If you're a fine art collector or just appreciate beautiful, original pieces, the Spring Fine Arts & Crafts Festival on St. Simons Island is the perfect excuse to plan a seaside excursion and discover all that the Georgia seaside island has to offer.
