The gym is located on Carney Drive, near the corner of Fred Moore Highway. It has 2 levels and a basement level. On the main level is the front desk, cardio equipment, free weights, and circuit training machines. Upstairs is where they do massages and body wraps. In the basement is the locker room, steam rooms, saunas, core training room and child care room.
The cardio machines all have flat screen TV's attached to them with Direct TV hooked up to them. You can watch whatever program you choose. If you want to listen to it though, you have to bring along you own headphones to plug into the TV. They have multiple elliptical, bikes, treadmills and stair stepper machines for you to work out on. If you don't have headphones, there is a radio station that is played throughout the building for you to listen to. There are multiple free weights to work out with along with several benches which can be moved and elevated to accommodate your workout. The circuit training area has pin weight machines and it you do all the machines in one day; it will give you a full body workout. There are mirrors on every wall as well, so you can be sure you are working out with proper technique and form.
In the basement, St. Clair Wellness Center has quite a nice and clean set up as well. The locker rooms offer showers, lockers, restrooms, and wet and dry saunas. They also offer free towel service for you to use in the sauna, shower, gym area, etc. The steam room is great. It smells like eucalyptus and is very relaxing. You cannot adjust the controls in this room though. The dry sauna is also relaxing after a workout and has a temperature adjusting dial on the outside as well as timer. The radio is piped into the locker room as well, so you can listen to that as you relax in the sauna. There is even a volume adjusting dial for you as well. The Core training room features medicine balls, punching bags, exercise balls, jump ropes, and other equipment of that sort. The daycare room is down there as well and features toys for kids to play with.
St. Clair Wellness Center also offers classes, for an additional cost. They are located at a different location, inside the Riverside Plaza. These classes include cardio boxing and yoga. Personal trainers are also available to help guide you in the right direction.
Compared to other gyms in the area, this gym is definitely the newest and most up to date. It is smaller than most gyms, but they utilize the space they have very efficiently. Right now they are running a special on membership prices, but prior to the special and after the special ends, the membership is higher than other area gyms. Most gyms include classes in with your membership fee, where St. Clair Wellness Center charges extra. Being that it is the only fitness facility in town, besides Curves, I think it is a nice set up though. As long as you can get in on the discounted price, it is an excellent deal. It is $5.95 a week for 3 years. You have to sign up for 3 years though, in order to get in on this price. They can charge you monthly, or f you pay all 3 years up front, you can save even more money. It has to be charged to a credit card or direct debited from a bank account as well. They have great hours too. St. Clair Wellness Center is open 7 days a week. They open at 5 a.m on weekdays and close at 10 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Post a CommentHAD a membership there. Always changing the hours, overcrowded, steam room was only open half of the time, bad weakend hours and nearly double the price of other gyms that are less than 10 miles away.
Make sure you check out their new website at www.stclairwellness.net
Awe makes me wish I lived in St. Clair. Great review!
Awesome write up :)
I wourkout at the St. clair Wellness Center on average 3 to 4 times a week and I love it. The staff is really helpful - at first I did not know how to use the machines and they showed me how to do everything and now I cannot get enough. It is a great atmosphere - everyone that belongs there is really friendly and I enjoy talking to people during my workout. Everyone should check out this facility because it is a wonderful addition to our community.
Great in the fall as well. They have Sunday ticket for the NFL ; you can exercise and watch your favorite team in peace!!
Sounds great not to have to watch Oprah while exercising.
I work out there three times a week, the staff is friendly and knowledgable, they all have beautiful smiles and enjoy their jobs. If you want to add health and wellness to your life this is the place. I have done the cardio boxing, the yoga, the core training, have had a massage there. If you break it down further it comes to .84 cents a day over the three years. There is no way you can spend your money more wisely! Just what we needed in Saint Clair!
Gosh, If I cut back two packs of cigarettes a week, I can afford the gym.
Sounds like a nice place and 6 bucks a week is fairly inexpensive. Good review!
