The Staff of Dunder Mifflin Scranton: A Profile of the Cast on NBC's The Office

McMillen
Jim Halpert(John Krasinski): Jim is an office prankster who has been in love with Pam for a long time, but is now dating someone else after moving to the Stamford office for a while. He really enjoys targeting his pranks on Dwight, who falls for them every time. He sometimes sends Dwight faxes that he signs, Future Dwight, warning Dwight of Now of dangers, such as poisoned coffee.

Kevin Malone (Brian Baumgartner): Overweight and horny, Kevin plays guitar and sings in a Police coverband.

Pam Beesly (Jenna Fischer): Pam is a secretary who dreams of one day becoming an artist. She enjoys playing pranks on people and is seriously in love with her friend, Jim. However, when he confessed his feelings for her, she turned him down... twice. After walking across hot coals barefoot at the company beach party, she has finally learned to speak her mind.

Michael Scott (Steve Carell): Michael is the boss. He has a coffee mug he bought himself that says "World's Best Boss." He is politically incorrect and often does or says things that make his employees uncomfortable. However, his self-unawareness and tendency to get emotional makes him endearing enough that the staff can't be mad at him for long.

Dwight Schrute (Rainn Wilson): Dwight is a super-geek who loves following the rules. He keeps numchucks and throwing stars in a secret compartment under his desk, just in case (of what, no one is sure). He lives on a beet farm with his cousin and likes to think of himself as the protector of Dunder Mifflin. He worships Michael as an annoying side kick.

Phyllis Lapin (Phyllis Smith): She is nice and intelligent but being overweight and chronically quiet, she is often on the receiving end of misogynistic ridicule by MIchael. However, when she does break her seemingly perpetual silence, it is often with a combination of brash, ego-checking timing and motherly sweetness that she puts Michael in his place. She was in Michael's graduating class and when Michael put on a ridiculous "coming-out" party for Oscar, the accountant, she pointed out how everyone in there high school assumed he was gay. He responded incredulously despite the irony of doing so at a party bent on gay acceptance.

Oscar Martinez (Oscar Nuñez): He's the gay accountant who got several months of severance pay after Michael kissed him during a meeting to prove that he wasn't homophobic.

Toby Flenderson (Paul Lieberstein): Toby actually works for coorporate because he is the Human Resources guy at Dunder Mifflin, but his office is in Scranton. Michael does not like Toby because his coorporate status seems threatening to Michael, who is merely middle-management. Toby is often left out of "fun" office activities like beach day. He has a crush on Pam, which is not likely to be reciprocated. (Toby is a writer and co-executive producer of The Office.)

Ryan Howard (B.J. Novak): Ryan is an intern who just finished his MBA. Michael does not have an MBA, but he went to lecture at one of Ryan's classes where he thought he could give them some "real world knowledge." It was terrible, and he was pretty much booed off the podium. Ryan was somehow roped into dating Kelly, who gets on his nerves a lot, especially after he was moved next to her cubicle. Ryan had to go through an awkward initiation right at Dwight's beet farm. (B.J is actually a writer and supervising producer for the show.)

Kelly Kapoor (Mindy Kaling): Kelly is an annoyingly cheeful customer service rep who epitomizes every dumb blonde stereotype, despite the fact that she's of Indian heritage. She talks a lot. They once made a bet on how many times she would mention different romantic comedies within one conversation.

Andy Bernard (Ed Helms): A ruthless brown-noser who likes to talk about the fact that he went to Cornell, Andy is one of the least likeable characters. He tries to be funny and consistently fails miserably without realizing it. He tries to start up nicknames like calling Jim "Big Tuna", but when Jim retaliates with some office pranks ends up in anger management classes.

Creed Bratton (Creed Bratton): On the surface, he appears to be a typical, white-haired, grandfather, but easily wins the title of the oddest character on the show. He is a loose cannon who uses the women's restroom and noodles a fish for his lunch on staff beach day. He would do anything to avoid getting fired and has a bit of a stealing problem. He uses the women's restroom and was homeless before he got the job at Dunder Mifflin.

Jan Levinson (Melora Hardin): Jan is slightly crazy corporate employee who has an on-and-off relationship with Michael. Her job was to make sure things at Scranton are running smoothly, but she was recently fired after having several mental breakdowns. She makes Michael nervous with her odd sexual requests, such as having him dress up as a schoolgirl.

Meredith Palmer (Kate Flannery): Red-haired alcoholic who occasionally flashes people when she gets drunk. She likes office parties and drives a van.

Angela Martin
(Angela Kinsey): Bible-thumping and judgemental, Angela is an accountant who doesn't approve of much that goes on in the office. She does, however, have a secret love affair going on with Dwight. She would be attractive, but her hair usually in a tight blonde bun fashioned to accent her high-collared school-marmish wardrobe. She is head of the social committe and loves posters of kittens and/or puppies engaging in human-like activities.

Stanley Hudson
(Leslie David Baker): 50-something black man of little words. He doesn't get involved in office pranks because he mostly just wants to get his work done and get the hell out of there. He's a family man, and Michael mistakes his daughter's picture in her Catholic school uniform for a provacative pic from a dirty magazine. Stanley does not particularly care for the people in the office, and his dry, unenthusiastic comments are often hilarious.
