THE STAR

Yommie Stephen
A star I've heard
Is many miles apart
Far from grappling hands
Of ambitious human hearts.

What about a star on land
My mind pondered on that
A star to give ethereal light all year
A bright beacon 'gainst night's fear

World-renown astronauts I'll invite
With astrologers of different kinds
To bring down a bright star
An object for the earth to stare

The star I descry
Was the brightest of the sky
Bring it to earth we tried
But its height none could defy

Oh star I entreat thee
Do not shift away from reach
Like the clouds do not flee
From me do not hide
For its you that I desire
Its really you that I need
A star to give ethereal light all year
A bright beacon 'gainst nights fear
