The State of Hip-Hop

Is Hip-hop Dead?

InKSpoTz
Hip-hop has been taking a beating the last few month because of bad language and violent rhymes, and has become the scapegoat for the media. Ask yourself do you actually know what hip-hop is? Another question on my mind is hip-hop dead? Has the meaning of hip-hop got lost in the corporate world? Well lets dig deep and find out the state of hip-hop.

First of all I want to take a stand for hip-hop against all the bad media and try to explain in my words what is good and bad about hip-hop today. Hip-hop started out as a feel good music to get your mind off all the bad things happening around you. It was the DJ that opened our eyes to this new style of music that would put a smile on your face and would take over your body making you nod your head to the beat. Once the emcee grabbed the mic it was time to see who could rhyme the best or who had the best gear, and it was all just for fun. then the people started to react to it and it was like crack everyone wanted to get more, Now emcees had a vehicle to announce their story to the world and to make aware what was going on around them.

Once America heard about drug babies being born and people getting shot for the wrong color of clothes, people got scared because they never seen this part of the free world and some didn't believe that it existed. Now if you are living in poverty and see these bad things around you everyday, this music would comfort you and help motivate you to do something, because if he can make it out so can I. It is very important to put yourself in the shoes of a hip-hop artist and to fully understand the struggle to stay positive when all you see is negative. An emcee is just a mirror of the streets and only talks about what is actually going on in their hometown.

Hip-hop will never die! It has been said that hip-hop is a dying breed and that there are no more true emcees anymore, but I am hear to say that hip-hop is alive and well, beating in the hearts of a hip-hop nation all over the world. Now everything you see on t.v. is not real and with that being said it is true with hip-hop. The corporations have jumped on the hip-hop train and are trying to squeeze all the money and life out of it. With commercials that have fake actors trying to rap about something no body wants, to politicians putting together a rhyme to try and relate to the youth. If you look a little deeper than MTV you will find and underground community that is embracing the true life in the hip-hop culture, and you will find that a true emcee can't get a job because the big corporations don't think they will sell any records. Some can blame the big corporations for making the artist do sexually explicit raps in order to get the controversy and to sell more records, then when the media points the finger the same corporate figures blame the artist and try to solve the problem quickly without actually taking any responsibility themselves.

Now the next time you feel a emcee is to blame for all the bad going on in the world today ,remember that person is just talking about what is going on around him or her and maybe we should look at how to stop that. If the cops would teat everyone equally then there would be no more anti-police songs or if the teacher would do extra to help out a student there would be more will to do better in school and we would have more minority doctors and lawyers and not as much young drug dealers that had no where else to turn.

This isn't music, its emotionally damaged morons trying to get over their emotionally constipated life's . Take it from me, the world has always had them. They come in all colors of poop. Black, brown, yellow, and white hell I think you might even find green if you are really unlucky.

They don't have the courage to love anyone. They are too busy being angry to realize how afraid they are of everything.

Look on the bright side at least they will get an education in prison, if they want it. Oh and the chance to be someone else's Bitch. Every dog e dog has its day as they say!

i feel u on this. distingushing between hip hop and rap music where one is more postive and creative and the other leans more corporate and commerical, say common vs soulja boy, then yeah i think hip hop is dying in the popular sense but definitely not as a culture because without it rap could not stand...so im feeling this article. i dont think its dead but it damn sure seems like its on a life line with money and fame being the all consuming goal and reason for putting out a record vs a time when it was about lyrics, sound, TALENT and message sucking the life from it messing with the plug. but what is art without subjectivity....i guess it would be boring right? still feelin the article...
