Dwells a stone tower princess imprisoned by bars.
Physically less than emotionally crafted,
And to this day she asks, "Where is my ever after?"
It had forgotten the stone tower princess.
You see, not too long ago she'd happily play
With friends she loved dearly, almost every day.
She romped in the fields, what a flurry of joy!
No matter the age, they were all girls and boys.
Life was good for the stone tower princess.
But one day, something quite odd did occur.
And it took no amount of genius to infer
That something had bitten the friends she'd so treasured,
For, one after another, they fell victim to pleasures.
All except for the stone tower princess.
What was this newly unveiled form of happiness?
Why did it not bless her? Was her manner that hideous?
She stared in confusion as her friends all withdrew
To snuggle and fondle and cuddle and coo.
All without the stone tower princess.
She watched them all dance with their lovers and smiled
And sighed and became absolutely beguiled.
The cloak of frivolity became harder to wear
And she soon traded it for a mask of despair.
Quite plaintive was the stone tower princess.
As each one of her comrades found someone divine
The princess screamed, taciturn, as amusement declined.
Just a moment before the last one turned away
She said, "Don't be sad. You'll find your prince, someday."
Then alone was the stone tower princess.
And the great, green fields became empty and dreary
While the princess waited, until her heart turned too weary.
She at last turned her back to the memories of old
And withdrew to the tower, so bleak and so cold.
She became the stone tower princess.
And inside the tower, the princess sits, sadly,
Thinking of the friends whom she misses so badly
With her chin in her hand and eyelashes besodden,
How much it hurts to be this long downtrodden!
Solitary is the life of our stone tower princess.
