The Stoney Creek Inn Restaurant in Pasadena, Maryland

Traveling is my middle name. As the miles go by I find out-of-the-way places to eat, and this is my "take" of one such place.

Stoney Creek Inn Restaurant located in Pasadena Maryland is a crab lovers hide-a-way, featuring crab cakes that will give your tummy happy memories for days afterward! I am not kidding!! Stoney Creek Inn is located just off of Ft. Smallwood Road, sitting close to the water (Stoney Creek) and surrounded by marinas, letting you know the seafood is fresh.

From Glen Burnie drivers would cross the Francis Scott Key Bridge and get off before paying toll, turning onto the Ft. Smallwood Rd heading east. The "Key" bridge as locals call it is easy to find from anywhere in the Baltimore/DC area making it a travelers landmark.

Stoney Creek Inn proudly deserved the visit from Guy Fieri and his show "Diners,Drive-ins and Dives" of the Food Network, which aired in November of 2008.

Owned by Bill and Mary Green, Stoney Creek is a small, quaint place which offers inside dining as well as outside on a covered patio complete with ceiling fans. Sitting outside affords a view of the marinas and Stoney Creek, sitting inside offers the rich smells of all the wonderful food being prepared.... I sit inside!

Specialties include Maryland crab cakes, made with anywhere from 6 oz of lump crab, all the way up to a one-pound crab cake that would be great for a few people to share. Stuffed shrimp, steamed shrimp, steamed clams, scallops, flounder stuffed with a crab cake, steamed crabs sold by the pound, and cold fresh ice tea or beer are just a few of the offerings at my new favorite place to eat.

There is a cucumber salad to die for in the side dishes offered, as well as corn on the cob, cole slaw and hush puppies to name a few. Appetizers are wonderful and I admit to dining on all appetizers, ordering crab soup, then an order of crab toast which is covered in cheese and broiled - lump crab piled high,-- yummers! (Then I added an order of steamed clams... HAY!!! I haven't been anywhere near Maryland in 30+ years, not to mention fresh steamed clams).

Oh, didn't I mention crab cakes?? These cakes are not your usual fare ordered elsewhere where the mix ix l/3 crab crumbles and 2/3 breading; these are lump crab with the bare minimum of stuffing, just what is required to hold them together, then broiled to perfection... and Oh-my-gosh-- they are to die for!

The menu, as well as directions can be found on their website, with the great news being that Stoney Creek ships!!! As I travel a lot and am heading out west next for a long stay in a town in western Wyoming where there is no seafood, frozen or otherwise, Stoney Creek is a God-send!

I admit proudly to eating at Stoney Creek Inn Restaurant three days in a row. Yep. It's that good. The only reason I didn't go back the fourth day was because they close on Mondays. Try it for yourselves if you are in the area, you won't be disappointed.
