Situated in the scenic, rolling hills of Juniata County, "The Stop," is a great place to relax and enjoy a meal. If you can't stay, then you may choose from the vast takeout menu. The Stop is located just off the Mifflintown exit of route 322/22 in Pennsylvania, on route 35. The official address: 1 Stop 35 Plaza, Mifflintown, Pa 17059. If you want to call ahead the phone number is (717) 436-8941. Adjoining the restaurant are a formal dining area, gift shop, gas station and lodging. Seat yourself in one of their quaint booths or at any of the available bar seats. There are plenty of available seats and very attentive staff to help you find your way. You'll notice upon arrival the restaurant is clean and inviting. Large, old-fashioned murals line the wall above the kitchen. Beautiful scenes from across Pennsylvania, including covered bridges, comprise the motif. Customers can be seen relaxing and enjoying the images that remind them of simpler times.

The staff provides a casual, pleasant atmosphere. The Stop serves a variety of Home Style American Foods. From crunchy, Potato Fried Tilapia to big, juicy burgers - every appetite will be satisfied. There are daily specials and an extensive menu to choose from. Our family loves to eat at The Stop because there is something extra special for each of us to enjoy. I like the friendly service and the clean floors (no really, I do). My husband enjoys looking at the murals and decoding the background to determine what the location of the image is. He also enjoys the delicious food. My little ones (ages 2 and 5) enjoy choosing a meal from the kids' menu, then coloring the pamphlet designed for them.

Another bonus for my capricious little girl and for me is the clean, odor-free ladies room. I always appreciate a clean bathroom. As I mentioned earlier the restaurant floors are clean and the servers are neat in their appearance. It is obvious to me that someone takes pride in this restaurant. At The Stop everything is "in order" and you can just relax.

In my experience, the prices on the menu can be a determining factor when choosing a restaurant. At The Stop it's easy to find a complete dinner for less than ten dollars. In fact, I did not see a single item on the menu over ten dollars. The prices are very reasonable. The restaurant usually stays busy and for good reason! Another example of the restaurant's generosity is the massive Side Salad. The Side Salad is so big it could almost be a meal all by itself. I say almost because I need meat! I love to eat and I eat well, but I could not finish the Side Salad and still have room for the main dish. It's that big! The waitresses are pleasant even when I drop excess lettuce on my placemat. I haven't met a grumpy waitress yet.

Coffee at The Stop is familiar and it's fresh. Ordinary restaurant coffee is delicious - if it's fresh, and here it's fresh. My husband likes to order the homemade soups. Last visit, he had Cream of Broccoli Soup and it was so good my 5 year old ate most of it, and she doesn't even like Broccoli! On Mother's Day moms got free dessert. I was there and I chose Coconut Cream Pie that was light and fluffy on top and rich and satisfying in the middle. It was delectable!

I can't say enough about The Stop because it's a family favorite for my family. Everything about this place makes me happy. If you're looking for a great place to eat, whether you're a local out on a Sunday afternoon, or just passing through and need to refuel, definitely give The Stop a try. Trucks are welcome.
