The Storm

Tara Darity
The sky grows darker
Here comes the storm
In the still of the afternoon
The weather is warm

Cool breeze blows through
As the rain comes down
Not stopping all day
Just drenching the town

Could it get any worse
We all begin to wonder
Staring out the window
I hear a rumble of thunder

Bolts of lightning flash
As day turns to night
Although it can be scary
It's a beautiful sight

No it hasn't stopped yet
But I will not complain
I am drifting off to sleep
Just listening to the rain

Had lots of thunder and lightning night before night -- the scary part of rainstorms.

I love a good storm, use to work for ESDA storm watch, so it was always cool going out spotting. :)

I love storms...when I get to stay inside and lounge all day.

I live in Tornado Alley so storms can turn quite scary and deadly rather fast. Poems like this, however, remind us that storms can also be beautiful.
