In my eye's and my heart my Papa is one of the greatest men alive. At least, out of all the men I have come across in my life. When he was 18 he joined the Marines. He has told me a million stories about being in the military. He feels very sad when he thinks about that time of his life. He doesn't really talk about it all that much. I understand it, I'm sure it makes him very upset.
When I was five and my parents divorced we moved in to the basement of my Papa and Nanny's house. If it weren't for them I don't know where we would have ended up. He always took us to school in the morning before he went to work. Before he took us though, he would stop and buy me a pack of gum. I thought that was the coolest thing in the world.
Now that I am older, he is still an amazing person. He helps me in any way he can. Any time I need money he is always the person who has helped me out the most. When I was in school he was the person who made sure I had lunch money and also money for school trips.
I have been told many stories about how smart he is. I always knew he was not on an average scale of knowledge. He could always help me with homework even though he hadn't been to school in fifty years or more. My dad and also my aunt have told me that when he was in the Marines they gave him an I.Q. Test. He rated in the gunieus scale. It is very believable for me because he is a very smart man.
I also know that after the Marines when he was working he went to school at night to get a business degree. He graduated and earned a degree. He later opened a successful gas station, an arcade, and a grocery store in the town I live in. They are no longer open, but I hear stories about them all the time.
I am very glad to be able to have a man I can call my Papa. I feel very lucky everyday just to know he is still living and I have the privilege of seeing him everyday. I really couldn't imagine my life without him being involved in my raising. He is a great man and I love him very much.
