They tell you their woes without a care
Others hide in the dark, afraid to let go
Afraid what will happen if their pain they share
Look out for those souls who hide behind a smile
The clown can hide a myriad of woes
We assume they are always there to make us laugh
So much of their life they cannot disclose
We all have the clowns in our lives
We count on them each day to help us through
Every once in a while we need to take a peek
To see if they are hurting too
The weak must sometimes become the strong
The strong sometimes will stumble
If we let our clowns hide alone with their tears
Their breaking hearts will surely crumble

"It's gonna hurt every now and then, if you fall get back on again" Brooks and Dunn - To stumble is to learn to learn is to succeed. Wise thoughts Donna!
Kinda reminds me of the poem "We Wear The Mask" by Dunbar. I love this.
What was that song, "The Tears of a Clown" - I remember that. It reminds me of this, sometimes folks use their humor to cover their sorrow. Cheers, good one, Donna :)
I think it's very true that the biggest clowns among us can be the unhappiest ones of all.
love your last verse, Donna!
