Then it dawned on me. If I replace sun with Son I find the same occurrences happen. For many years I knew "about" the Son of God. Jesus was taught about in my Sunday school. I believed that there was a Son of God named Jesus. I believed that He was real. But as I grew, I did not grow in Christ.
Looking back now, I see that when I started seeking Jesus Christ and to know Him better, my life got better. It's not that I didn't experience heartache, health problems, money problems and such. It's that I changed how I handled my problems AFTER the Son of God came into my life.
A bad day goes better when I remember the words of Christ. Jesus will never leave me or forsake me and I "feel" that on those bad days. And just like the sun coming up, Jesus is the faithful son of God that is always with me.
The sun is life giving. The son of God came to us to show us a way to have eternal life. Eternal life, can we even comprehend what that really means? It means that this son of God, named Jesus, has overcome death. And if we believe in Him, God will see us in heaven with Him forever. The sun is life giving. The son of God is life giving.
Like everyone else, I have days when my outlook on life isn't exactly as Christian as it should be. The cloudy days with no sun are days that can sometimes be harder to get through. My zip and zest for life seems to wane. I realize that a day without the son of God is much much worse. The words of Jesus inspire me and make everything tolerable. The days without a sun are one thing, a day with out the son of God would seem to be intolerable to me now.
The sun in our lives is so important and so enjoyable. The son of God in our lives is priceless. There is nothing that tops that!

Post a CommentThanks for sharing. I agree with you 100%. Yesterday I had my day all planned. As so often happens -- it didn't work that way. By day's end everything had fallen into place but not before about 4 hours of out day had passed. When we prayed last night my husband said we should thank God for the day. It turned out just perfect.
Your article is full of Sonshine AND sunshine which makes for a beautiful beautiful day.
There is a strong connection between THE Son of God and the Sun created by God. They both give light, they both bring life. Good work Sherry.
Wonderful piece Sherry..I can certainly relate to Kim's comment. Well done & thank you!
Amen! I've been covering the "political scene" lately and I can tell you I need a large dose of both the sun and especially the SON on a daily basis.
"Enlightening" in every way :-)
So true and beautifully written.
Well written.
The Son is the Sun ... more than simply homophones, huh?
