The Survivor's Guide to Online Roulette

A Short Review of Online Roulette

Jackson Lewis
The game of Roulette has been around since it debuted in Monte Carlo in the mid-1840's. Although Roulette is a fairly rigid game of chance, the game is fairly popular due to the ease of play and potential for a 35:1 payoff.

There are numerous online opportunities to exercise one's Roulette skills whether a beginner or an expert. Some of the more popular online Casinos that offer Roulette are Rushmore Casino and SportsBook Casino. Both offer good beginner's tutorials and are easy to complete registration. Most online casinos are also offering signup bonuses of up to 30% of one's initial deposit into the gambling website's account. This should be taken into consideration before making the first deposit since the bonus payment from the online casino is normally not offered a second time.

Online Roulette Rules

There are two special rules and one configuration variation the online Roulette player needs to watch out for:

1 - The Surrender Option - If this option is enforced and the ball lands on the 0 or 00 the player only loses half of his / her bet rather than the entire wager. This option negatively affects the House's edge over the player but also reduces outside bets to even money only.

2 - 'En Prison' - This occurs when the ball lands on 0. For all even-money outside bets, the player does not lose his or her bet, but instead the bet remains on the board and is in 'prison'. The bet pushes to the next spin and if 0 is hit again will remain in prison until the player wins or loss.

Table Configuration

Before commencing Roulette play at any online casino, the serious player needs to know if the table is configured according to European or American styles. The European styled tables only have a single 0, whereas the American configuration has both 00 and 0. The house edge in the European variant is reduced from 5.26% to 2.7%.

The final item any new online player should do is set a realistic limit on his or her first time playing online roulette; if only to prevent losing money from not knowing what button on the mouse to click.
