Stop! Don't Buy Any Souvenirs Until You Read This
Lauderhill, FL 33313
United States of America
Location: 3291 West Sunrise Boulevard between I-95 and the Florida Turnpike in Fort Lauderdale. Via I-95 (North or South) take I-95 to the West Sunrise Blvd exit (29B). The Swap Shop is one mile west of I-95. It's about 20 minutes away from Miami International Airport.
If you're looking for the best prices in town then you need to head over to the Swap Shop. The Swap Shop offers its own circus, drive in theater, local vendors, farmers market, exotic car lot and amusement park. If this isn't enough to keep you busy on a weekend afternoon then I don't know what will.
The Swap Shop is one of the largest attractions to visit when tourists come to South Florida. The great prices and open air markets make it a great experience. Personally, on Sunday, I love going to the farmers market at the Swap Shop. Here you can find a host of fresh fruits and vegetables all within a generous price range. Likely, you will be able to bargain with vendors and walk away feeling like you got a deal. You can also find fresh floral arrangements with prices too good to pass up. Be sure to dress for the heat because you will be outside 90% of the time.
Since it's open all year round, you can be sure that you'll be able to stop in and visit when you are in the area. It is divided into several different sections. An open air market where (tip*) you will be able to find cheaper goods and services, or the indoor market where you will pay more for the same product. You can find, designer handbags, sunglasses, shoes, clothing, furniture, and more. There is so much variety that it can be overwhelming to take a walk through at first.
Kids love the Swap Shop because of the amusement park and circus that it offers. Lots of fun rides, popcorn, cotton candy and all at great unbeatable prices. There are outdoor/indoor restaurants where you can stop and take a break. After a fun day, you can pull into the 14 screen drive in theater and enjoy a new movie. This is a great option, if you're looking to have a cheap date.
Perhaps you are interested in becoming a vendor. They have great rates available. Saturdays are especially popular for new vendors. You may find, movies, mattresses, furniture, live animals and a host of other items.
There are many places to visit in South Florida, but for me, the Swap Shop is where I will do most of my purchasing. I guarantee that you will not regret going to the Swap Shop. The most wonderful thing about this giant flea market, is that you can see the many different faces of South Florida. If you're in town and need to take back some souvenirs, I recommend getting 10 Florida t-shirts/towels for $20 dollars. Remember to look for the big yellow bridge! It's the main mark that will let you know that you're there!
