The Sweet One's Album Stay Low Rocks Harder Than You Do

Stay Low, Rock Hard

Once upon a time, on a Saturday eve at the Brewery in State College, my old band was playing a show with a couple of out of town bands. One was the Menzingers from somewhere East, and the other was The Sweet Ones from Brooklyn, NY. I hadn't really expected much from these other bands - I hadn't heard the Sweet Ones yet and the Menzingers just seemed to be another pop-punk clone band. Considering the Menzingers, I expected the Sweet Ones to be the same.

Boy, was I wrong.

The Sweet Ones came on and rocked a mix of so many different punk genres that it spun my head around. Usually, when a band is a cross-genre mix, they pick the wrong parts of the genre to mix. Not The Sweet Ones. They knew what they were doing, and from the live show, they loved to do it. As the night wound down, we hung out and had a few drinks, a few laughs, and all around good time hanging out with them. At the end of the night, their drummer gave me one of their cds and I went on my merry way.

I popped it in my cd player and it hasn't left since. The cd is so damn catchy that I find myself singing the hooks to all the songs in strange times in normal everyday things, the music its self sounds exactly as they do live. Hell, you can hear the energy they put into their live shows in the damn cd! Most of the time, bands sound way different on their recordings. The Sweet Ones sound exactly the same and thats a damn good thing!

But, don't take my word for it. Go to their Myspace page and listen to their songs, then send them a message about buying a cd. Or go on to iTunes and buy it on there. However you do it, do it! This album will change your life...As in, it'll make it so awesome you'll be building a spaceship from an old fridge box, sending out memos at work saying "FYI: I Ain't no Jimmy Carter" and maybe, just maybe, hanging out with Saddam and Elvis.
