The Talent of Actors

Shaheen Darr
Many a role he learnt to play
Coverings, he mastered, as he took the stage
At times a role would take him over
Immersed, he became the character
And the character became him
Difference betwixt reality and acting...erased

This was beautifully written, Shaheen. That's the danger, isn't it, when we hide our true selves from others too often, there will come a point when we forget who we really are ourselves.

That might be good for some actors with certain characters. With others, obviously not so much.

I often wonder about that when I see a breath-taking performance. I hear that Daniel Day Lewis become lost in his characters during performance. It's easy to believe after getting lost in his performances.

You have the talent to capture or express the right words for anything. What you said goes to the good actors who work hard to play the role and we just see the character and we don't remember the actor. He reached his goal!

Perceptive. Those kinds of actors make the best ones.

Yes, as long as he's not trying to act out Shakespearian plays too literally!
