1. Jimmy Fallon's "Glee" Emmy Opening
We were all a little nervous at the thought of late night host Jimmy Fallon hosting the Emmy Awards, weren't we? Especially since the last couple of years hosts sort of stunk up the place quite a bit. But Jimmy won our hearts with a brilliant "Glee" inspired musical number to Bruce Springsteen's "Born To Run" to open the show.
2. LeBron James "Decision Special" on ESPN
File this under the one of the biggest FAILS in TV. Ever. Basketball superstar LeBron James had a whole ESPN special devoted to his decision on his future team. Would he stay in Cleveland? Go to Chicago or Miami? Turns out, he chose Miami causing the city of Cleveland to practically implode on itself.
3. Amber Portwood's "Teen Mom" Beatdown
Most controversial clip of the year? Maybe. MTV camera's caught graphic footage of "Teen Mom" star Amber Portwood, physically assaulting ex-fiancé Gary Shirley. Since the airing of the video, Police have recommended felony domestic violence charges on the 20 year old from Anderson, Indiana, and 2 year old daughter Leah has been made a ward of the state.
4. American Idol: Pants On the Ground!
"Lookin' like a fool with your pants on the ground!" The runaway viral hit from the American Idol season 9 auditions was parodied, and covered like crazy. Even football legend Brett Favre was a fan!
5. Betty White Hosts SNL
Proof social media shall inherit the earth, a viral Facebook campaign to have the 'Golden Girl' host "Saturday Night Live" was a success! White did a great job with her brilliant comedic timing and smartly written sketches.
6. Letterman, Leno, Oprah Superbowl Ad
The highlight of the Superbowl commercials this year, we got to see an ad from CBS for "The Late Show" consisting of an archnemesis trifecta of Oprah, David Letterman and Jay Leno all sitting on the couch eating chips. It's only 29 seconds long, but packed full of hilarity.
7. Teresa Giudice goes bananas on the "Real Housewives of New Jersey" Reunion Special
Do NOT talk about her family! Real Housewife Teresa Giudice loses her mind during the taping of the second season reunion when Danielle Staub brings up her 'nephew'. Executive Producer, Andy Cohen tries to get Teresa to calm down but she ends up throwing him around like a rag doll instead.
8. The "Real Housewives of NYC" and their trip to "Scary Island"
People talked about this for weeks. When the "Real Housewives of NYC" flew to the US Virgin Islands, now known as the "Trip to Scary Island" and cast member Kelly Bensimon, had...well...difficulty on the trip. Culminating in costar Bethenny Frankel's plea for her to, "Go to SLEEP!"
9. The "Lost" Finale
Finally! All the answers to the world's weirdest show that made absolutely no sense would be answered! It's the afterlife! Causing those too cool for "Lost" to say, "I told you so," and those devoted to the show to cry at the beauty of the wrap up or be devastated that it wasn't cooler than them all dying in the crash.
10. The Bristol Palin Phenomenon on "Dancing With The Stars"
She really had no reason to be there, she had never been famous for anything besides being the pregnant out of wedlock teenage daughter of a Vice Presidential candidate, but nothing could stop the Palin machine on Dancing With The Stars! She wasn't a great dancer either, and should have probably gone home in the 5th week, but she was voted in week after week and made it all the way to the finals.
What were some of your favorite TV moments of the year? What would you have on the list?
