The Ten Most Reliable 2011 New Cars

Is Your Future Buy a Possible Lemon?

James Hamel
Every morning when you get up to go to work or to take your kids to school you just expect your car to start. But when it routinely doesn't that can put a serious damper on all of the things you have to get done in a single day. Owning a car whose reliability you can't depend on is a luxury that most Americans cannot afford.

Beyond this, if you just bought a new car that you possibly still owe thousands of dollars on there is nothing worse than suffering a mechanical breakdown. Even squeaks, rattles and minor failures can negatively color your new car ownership experience if they start early on in the relationship. You expect an Italian sports car to be temperamental but not the new family SUV.

So which 2011 new cars are projected to be the most reliable in their respective categories? Well, we figured you might want to know the answer to that question so here is a list of the ten most reliable 2011 new cars as compiled by legendary polling firm J.D. Power and Associates. Happy motoring!

2011 Toyota Prius-Despite having a couple of very high profile recalls the 2011 Prius should prove to be just as reliable as ever. Besides, none of the Prius recalls had anything to do with it breaking down.

2011 Honda Fit-This is not a big surprise that the Fit is projected to be the most reliable subcompact as it routinely wins such quality awards around the globe. It's also an incredibly practical small car.

2011 Honda Ridgeline-Sorry to the F-150, Ram, Silverado and Tundra but you lose out to this unconventional Honda pick-up. Honda may not sell many but they build them right.

2011 Honda CR-V-Here's one that Honda sells by the boatload and no doubt you have one somewhere in your neighborhood. A practical, fun to drive and reliable family SUV is something you only find at Honda.

2011 Toyota Highlander-Not the most exciting midsize SUV but it gets the job done.

2011 Honda Odyssey-Already a big sales hit, this minivan routinely ranks as the most reliable in the nation.

2011 Toyota Sequoia-Okay, this SUV is ridiculously sized and more car than most human families could ever need. But it's reliable.

2011 Lincoln MKZ-If you thought the most reliable luxury SUV was a Lexus you would be very, very wrong.

2011 Mazda MX-5 Miata-Top down fun plus sport handling plus reliability equals an unbeatable package.

2011 Audi A6-This car once suffered from more faults than any other luxury sedan in surveys but now it is at the top of the charts.
