The Terra Firma of God's Creation

Mike Sutherland
I Saw Her There
On An Ageless Flight

Like Poetry In Motion
A Magnificent Sight

Strong And Proud
With Long Flowing Mane

An Unbreakable Spirit
That Cannot Be Tamed

Gracefully Wading
At Fresh Water Creek

Careful Not To Spook Her
As She Curtseyed For A Drink

Pristine And Untouched
This Wilderness Range

A Heavenly Valley
That Remains Unchanged

An Equine Paradise
Just Around The Bend

Beyond The Realm
That Time Transcends

Then Off In Flash. . .
Back Where She Came

Through The Great Forest Pines
That Whisper Her Name

Climbing Up Foothills
With Light Snow falling

Through A Secret Pass
Her Loved Ones Calling

And On The Other Side
Behold & Alas

A Herd Of Wild Horses
In A Field Of Green Grass

Grazing A Meadow
Generations Have Roamed

She Paused For A Moment
At A Place She Calls Home

Rearing Up In The Air
A Breathtaking Sight

She Whinnied And Neighed
With All Of Her Might

Then Down A Steep Path
She Returned Once Again

Through An Invisible Fence
With No Need To Mend

Where A Band Of Wild Horses
You Cannot Corral In

Run Wild & Free
On The Whispering Wind

For Linda. You honor poetic form through and through; you pay tribute to others and I want to pay tribute to you. The poem you wrote for me made me smile- no hooting around; and I am grateful for that. You too write with great delight in making a rhyme out of ANYTHING and EVERYTHING in sight; and all your comments are most generous too, so I want you to feel appreciated for all that you do.

I could have easily wrote about your AMAZING ability for TIMING and RHYMING and your clever endeavor to write with such WHIT, but I would rather write about hopes and dreams and that's why I chose to go with what seems to be your unbridled passion for horses. I hope you like it.
