They are trying to exert their independence yet still be your little baby. Needing comfort and hugs and kisses, but only on their terms.
They are growing physically and mentally. Learning how to communicate and express themselves. Unfortunately is seems this comes out as temper tantrums, screaming fits and crying endless rivers of tears. The shedding of tears seems to come from both of us at times. I wonder what she would do if I threw myself on the floor and started screaming?
By the way, WHO named it terrible? I think 'Ornery 1's' is a good one. How about the 'Hellacious 2's'? Can I use the 't' in 'the' to count or does the 't' have to be descriptive? 'Tornado 2's'?
You know if they really wanted it to describe their description of what they think the 'terrible 2's' are it should be the 'tenacious 2's'. What about when they are still terrible when they hit 3? I can not reuse terrible. That would be way too redundant. How about when she hits 4? I have a feeling I will not referring to it as the 'fabulous 4's'.
Who decided that this happens at the magical age of 2?
Want to know what I have to say? I say .... Bull!
My daughter is 19 months old. That is 5 months away from the magical event of her 2nd birthday. The day the terrible 2's are suppose to hit. Terribleness struck a couple weeks ago and has only gotten more terrible. If she is this bad at 19 months and the terribleness is 5 months away, I am scared to see how much worse it can get. Can you just imagine me in fatigues and an helmet looking for shelter and protection in a foxhole as the wondrous day of celebration approaches?
Do you think I lie and tell her she is 3? The 'Terrific 3's'? Do you think that would work? No? Damn.
I wonder if I am going through the 'terrible 32's'?

Post a CommentVery funny! I actually love this age. It's a fun age with lots of new experiences. My youngest is 23 months and started her "terrible two's" a few months ago too. You should check out my article on the Terrible Two's. :-)
