The Therapeutic Benefits of Coconut Oil

Reducing Chronic & Progressive Disease

As a consumer who is interested in natural healing alternatives, you may want to consider a product that is making great waves across consumer health awareness. One such product, coconut oil, is becoming increasingly popular among mainstream American consumers who desire an all natural approach to reversing the risk for progressive and degenerative diseases.

Coconut oil has long been considered not only an excellent food product but also a great alternative healing product. In fact, coconut oil is used among those healers who practice ayurvedic medicine and is even utilized, in some forms, in the United States for patients who suffer from malabsorption and digestive complications.

As a saturated fat, many American consumers still consider coconut oil to be classified as a "bad" fat and, therefore, avoid the use of coconut oil in not only regular dietary consumption but also in respect to alternative healing. While most saturated fats are unhealthy for American consumers, coconut oil, even if used only in cooking, can provide a natural healing benefit.

Of the most noted health benefits of coconut oil is the prevention and treatment of heart disease; most notably through the reduction and control of cholesterol. While most saturated fats are believed to increase cholesterol levels, using coconut oil, in the nonhydrogenated, all natural form has not shown to affect cholesterol levels at all. In fact, individuals who use coconut oil as the source of fat intake each day will find this is the healthiest form of saturated fat one can consume.

Another aspect of coconut oil is in the body's ability to naturally convert the fatty acids into disease fighting components, thus making coconut oil a great source of nutrition in warding off bacterial infections. Specifically, it is the lauric acid, created from the metabolism of coconut oil, which provides coconut oil with its disease fighting capability, destroying may fatty encased diseases such as influenza, HIV, staph infections and even Chlamydia.

So, what is the best way to consume the healthy level of coconut oil each day? For most adults, a healthy dose of 3 ½ tablespoons is sufficient to realize the therapeutic benefit of coconut oil. If you prefer not to consume coconut oil directly, the same therapeutic benefit can be achieved through consumption of 10 ounces of coconut milk or seven ounces of raw coconut.

As American consumers continue to find ways to reduce the risk for progressive disease, such as high cholesterol and heart disease, the use of alternative medicinal products is becoming increasingly more popular. Of these products, the use of coconut oil is not only a healthy addition to the diet but a tasty one as well.
